On the JS accessories website the waterproofs and textiles are not seperate and i have been confused on most biking gear websites Embarassed

Hazarding a guess i think that textiles are the clothes with "CE approved armour on the back knees and elbows" etc and waterproofs just have no armour.

Sooooooooo anything with CE approved armour is a textile?

Thanks in advance

Just look for a textile jacket that has armour or provision for it, if a textile jacket doesn't have armour then it's either a waterproof, or it's probably not much good. Same pretty much applies to trousers too. There will also most likely be a significant difference in price between something like an armoured textile jacket and a waterpoof or paddock jacket. On the armour, leather jackets come with armour too, not just textile's.

waterpoofs will be very water resistant, and designed to go over protective gear

textiles will be fairly waterproof and will be wear resistant so you slide down the road without hurting skin. Probably have armour too.

The textiles I have take quite a lot of heavy rain before anything comes through. So I'd say they are fine for anything except long distance touring.

Just to add to the confusion I have a cordula jacket this is a textile jacket that is waterproof I have been out in all kinds of weather and can say with confidence that the jacket will keep you dry but the pockets are another concern so be caerfull in your choice if unsure buy a nice armoured jacket and buy a cheap waterproof over jacket from your local fishing tackle shop. I bought waterproof over trousers from my local tackle shop for around £10 and they are brill.

Hope this helps
