Having seen how often peoples bikes are stolen, it got me thinking.

I use a big motorbike chain which came with the bike.

I thread it through the back wheel in front of the rear shocks, and lock it over the seat, so the only way to remove it is to cut through it.

My question is would some of those three foot bolt cutters go through it?

Most likely. Unless it's one of those 19mm almax jobbies.

Go onto youtube and search for motorbike chains or almax.

Or go onto Visordown and search for posts from Zanx I think it is. He is also on BCF but have no idea if he uses the same name.

If someone wanted it, they would simply shove it in the back of a van, or yes, they would find someway of chopping through it providing you don't catch them..Would be satisfying if ya did catch someone trying to though Twisted Evil

Sounds almost useless. Bolting it though the wheels/swingarm/forks might look secure but many theifs will simply unbolt them.

An Almax though a ground anchor and through the frame of the bike (impossible on some sports bikes) will stop most petty theifs and scallys.

The serious ones are more determined but you generally only need to worry about them if you have a new high value bike that is worth lots in parts.

From what I have heard, thieves couldn't care less about how you lock-up your bike. If they really want it, they'll pick it up and throw it in the back of a van, alarm screaming at 120decibels, in front of the public too if their brazen enough. There's nothing you can do but remember rule 101 of motorcycle security.

True really. As far as I understand, most "van" thieves use stolen vehicles to cart motorbikes away in, hence why should they care if anyone see's them nicking them? 60 seconds of a screaming alarm, maybe awake a few neighbours that take note of the number plate and do little else and they're off.

Short of physically stopping them (which would see YOU thrown in prison in most scenarios), there's very little you can do.
