I thought ir was a bit pointless, would of been miles more effective if they had a couple of bikes somehow barge other vehicles out the way
and then showed the bike without a scratch on 'em, but the cars wrote off, but then i suppose it would portray bikes invincible and indestructible, so they wouldn't care about hitting us............. Rolling Eyes

I think that would be an interesting idea, done right it could be quite dramatic and hard hitting. I think thats what needs to be done. I remember the odd advert and poster for bike awareness but I really dont think enough effort was put into it. They really need to shove it in people's faces, make them realise what they are doing.

I have to agree that it seemed a little namby pamby in its serious message.

Fucking AWESOME!!! So true about the MORONS in cars with their heads up their asses!!!

Whatever mate Rolling Eyes I drive a car and ride a bike, so what does that mean? One minute a moron, the next your best mate?

I was nt too keen on the 'Think' campaign either for the same reasons, not very shocking thanks to mainstream TV and Hollywood.

If only you could teach common sense and the ability to think for themselves and take responsibilty for their actions.

I know what you mean, I found the advert amusing but it is a bit light hearted for the subject.

I think the 'wear your seat belt', 'dont drink and drive' and 'kill your speed' have been really harshe and hard hitting adverts. They've really pushed them. But the bike awareness ones seemed very tame and few and far between. They really to make a harshe awareness advert that slaps everyone in the face. I dont know why they havent done this.

(I keep saying 'they' I really need to find who excatly is responsbible for making these things happen. Maybe we could actually make a difference and tell them what we think.)

Also, I dont hate car drivers and agree with whosthedaddy. I just did my car theory and am going to be doing an intensive driving course to get my nissan micra on the road and actually be independant. Cars are practical in bad weather, doing the shopping, taking the cat to the vets, picking friends up.. etc.

I just think being bikers as well, you are more aware. A lot of people who drive cars only and have no interest in bikes, dont look for them or think.

Were pulled after a short while Question

Being a nurse on a Coronary Care Unit, I see the ill effects of high cholesterol and smoking EVERY day and this was quite an effective message. I know people complained about the frankly disturbing images at meal times.

From what I understand, this campaign has been deemed too graphic as well asnd will be pulled from prime time showing.

If you want a message to get across then it has to be shown when most people will be viewing, this is the same as the driving campaigns.

I think its stupid when they pull adverts because they are too graphic or not appropriate if someone is eating. Stuff that! People need to be shocked into thinking. Nothing else works.

I agree they need to be shown when most people will be viewing and they need to keep showing them.

The one that annoyed me the most was about testicluar cancer and Robbie Williams. It was only allowed to be shown after 11pm Brick Wall

How on Earth are messages to be put across if no one ever sees it?

Remember those fire alarm adverts centered around a family?

It'd be all light hearted where you'd get various family members forgetting small things; going for a poo and there being no toilet roll, going to school without a packed lunch, going to work with no coat and it rains (I can't remember the exact scenarios) etc. Then the last one is forgetting to check the batteries in the fire alarm and the next thing you see is the dad sat in his car outside the house that's burned down crying his eyes out. We need soemthing like that for the Think Bike campaign:

Trivial things which car drivers don't see as particularly dangerous: Forget to indicate for a lane change on an empty motorway, looking down for a few second to change the radio station, drinking coffee whilst driving, forgetting to look for bikes at a junction. Then perhaps show the bikers family at their funeral, or the driver being done for dangerous driving at court etc.

Agreed that would be a good idea, it definitly needs to be done.
