hi there

i'm going to stick the cg in for its test soon and in these days of 'happy to charge' garages thought i would prepare the bike by checking and fixing all the nasty bits before i take it...hopefully reducing the cost!!!

so i guess my question is, what bits do they check on the bike, is there a checklist to follow?

As long as the bike falls within the tolerances described in haynes will it be legal?

cheers

jo

I had my scooter MOTd on Thursday and all they did was check the following:

Arrow the alignment of the headlamp
Arrow the brakes (the bike was on rollers on the ground)
Arrow that all my lights (dipped/main beam, indicators, front & rear brake) work
Arrow horn
Arrow steering: he turned the steering full range each way
Arrow suspension? he pushed both the front and the rear down as far as they could (could somebody please confirm what this test was for?)
Arrow he took a quick look in the engine bay, but I think it was mainly to make a note of the VIN

20min or so and £27.50.

Hi

Slightly out of date, but the bike MOT manual is here:-

All the best

On my last one he checked...

Lights...
Brakes...
Horn...
Numbers...
Foot Pegs...
Exhaust*...
Tyres...
Chain...
Cables...

And that's about it I think...

* I say he checked the exhaust, he stuck his hand over the end can with it running to see how shitty his hand got...lol

Not quite - he did that to see if the exhaust was leaking. If it was, then the engine would NOT start to bog down and the exhaust gas would have all been diverted through the leak, making it more obvious.
