Hey

Aside from it being dangerous would riding on wet ground damage a 50cc scooter?

(not neceserily damage but is it not good for it)

Or are they made for it and its completly fine

Would riding in the rain damage one?

Thanks

By "wet ground" do you mean road or field? If road, then yes, it's fine to ride. Would be a bugger if it wasn't, living in Britain, eh?

So it does absolutely nothing 2 them? Because im just going out for fun and so i dont have to.

Would it be best to dry the underside when i get back.

Thanks

Well, if you want to be anal about it, yes you can dry your bike off. I don't personally know of anyone who does dry the bottom of a 50cc scooter though.

As soon as you get in from a ride in the wet,... stick it in the garage and forget about it. Thumbs Up

How old is your scooter, if its a heap of shit (most are)! Dont worry

I never dried my 50 off, pointless because it was plastic and i wasn't to bothered! During winter i dry my exaust off on my 125 because otherwise it will rust (cheap shitty exaust)!

Never mind the damage bit.. i'm more concerned with the fact you are convinced riding in the wet is 'dangerous'. Why do you think that?

Riding in the wet just requires a bit more care and respect of stopping distances, lean angles etc, but it's certainly not any more dangerous 'quote-unquote' that riding in the dry.

Ok i just thoght for a new rider it would be a bit slippy.

I got stopped by police a few days ago and he said"its a bit slippy (wet) you don't see many bikers out"

Cheers

it can be slippy, but thats usually back in autumn when there are leaves on the ground, just don't try to brake on manhole covers too hard, and don't try getting your knee down and you'll be fine,

Its not slippy when its wet unless you stray onto manhole covers/overbanding etc. The reason you don't see many bikers in the wet is because some are scared of getting their toy dirty.

I love riding when its pissing down. Wink

Some of my best ever rides have been in the rain, man I can remember in the summer first time I ever hit 80 was in the middle of a massive storm flying down the A40, no one about at all, had been riding for about an hour or so before hand (3rd time out on my nsr), God that was a fun day,

You'd be surprised how much grip you have in the wet. Obviously less than in the dry, but more than you might imagine. Just don't take the piss on the corners and leave more braking distance. Avoid metal bits (manhole & drain covers, studs ets) and road paint.

The worst times to ride in the wet are (as has already been said) Autumn when there are leaves everywhere, and also during the first rain after a dry spell. When it's dry crap accumulates on the road (dirt, oil etc) and the first rain will shift that and make the roads slidy. After prolonged rain like we've had the roads are washed clean so all you have to really worry about is the water itself. Go carefully, but don't avoid going out because of some rain. Look for the telltale sheen of spilt oil in the wet, too. That's best avoided, if you want to stay upright.

Both BSA Goldstars and Vincent Black Shadows are made of chocolate and melt if they go out in the wet.

Then they presumably also melt when in contact with the warmth of a rider's arse.

That's poor design, really.
