Ive read on here a few times in regards to insurance quotes of younger riders (17 - 20 year olds) getting insurance for bikes such as R6's ZX6R's CBR's and the likes for less than £500 TPF&T.

What i'd like to know is what companies do you use and how the fuck do you get your quotes so cheap.

Im 24, have been riding bikes for eight years and the cheapest quote ive ever had on bikes like those mentioned above which was on a '99 V reg R6 and that was £1065 TPF&T.

Is it just me or am i doing something wrong here??

Ive just got got a quote for a GSXR750 for 500 quid TPFT and im 25 with one year experience and 0 NCB and a claim against me.

The bike isnt going to be garaged either.

Where do you live / where will it be parked?

Try H&R and Express Insurance.

Bike would be parked in an alarmed garage with a ground anchor. All bikes that i own have alarms and immobilisers fitted to them too. I live on the essex coast in a small countryside village.

Phone as many freephone numbers for your best quote, then determine if it's your policy or your selected broker. I was insured on a Blade for £235 TPFT, when I was 23 at the time.

Jesus. Again and Again.

Insurance is not the same for everybody.

It means tested upon individuals.

If you live in a crap area = high insurance

If you ride a high insurance group = higher insurance

If you don't garage or put theft prevention features on your bike = higher insurance

If you don't ring around loads of insurance companies = you will have a higher quote

No NCB = higher insurance

Do more mileage over the year = higher quotes

In a particular occupation that is deemed more likely for your bike to get stolen / you have a crash = higher quotes.

I think that has wrapped it up, cause I dunno if it is just me, but the amount of insurance threads on this site is obscene and I think members should start learning to use the search system a bit more, cause i'm only re-iterating something that has been mentioned many times before.

You could save a lot of money by getting a CG125 instead, cheaper insurance and as you're so anti-speeding any bike bigger than a 125 is wasted anyway Thumbs Up

Is there some previous between you two or what? Bit of a strong reaction to what looked like a tongue in cheek comment mate Rolling Eyes

Anyway..... back on topic. There must be something your not letting us in on here because your quotes should be fine based on what youve told us.

Im 25, I have a pending accident claim, 1 year no claims and Ive been riding for four years. I just insured my K6 SV650S for £400 fully comp. Thats doing 6-8000 miles a year, no alarm or immobilizer, garaged, in a good area and with a bellypan + exhaust declared. On top of that I was quoted £610 for an 05 636 Fully comp. When I was 23 I insured my 2000 W reg CBR6 for 350 TPFT.

So which part of your current situation is causing the horrendous uplift? Any points? High mileage? business use? Must be something!!!

BTW all my quotes were with express insurance, give them a try!! Thumbs Up

Ive got 3 points for an SP50 but these are over three years old. No business mileage, and an annual mileage of about 5,000ish.

My current bike isnt too bad on the insurance, but when i look at anything sports orientated i get ridiculous quotes.

Current bike is a '94 GS500E, and im paying £132 TPF&T, so yeah i know its going to increase from that what with bikes im getting quotes on being newer and higher insurance groups, but the prices i have been quoted are stupid. All my quotes have been done through bennetts.

Also i will say that if i get quotes on other unfaired bikes the quotes stay a similar price. Ive had quotes on a bandit 1200 and a TRX850 and both have stayed under the £200 mark, yet when i get quotes for faired bikes it goes through the roof Confused

What you say about jobs is deeper than you think, i was once deemed "uninsurable" due to my job as a sound engineer back in the day, they said "do you work with celebrities?" not knowing what would be the outcome i said yes.
They got back to me the next day and said "we can't insure you"

I later found out that because i worked with celebrities, there was a remote possibility usher or Robbie williams could end up on the bike with me and be involved in a crash. Rolling Eyes
i lied a little after that. Wink

Im 26 with a 2 crashes in the last year. One of which is still being contested and the other which the guy has admitted liablity.
On my 98 CBR 600 fully comp, legal and breakdown cover was only £350.

Kept in my back garden shed. Even if you dont have a garage but have a shed and it can fit, tell them. Its amazing how much discount they give.

the only thing i would suggest as you seemed to do the others is go on a advanced driving course (like them police ones) and buy a bike mag a ring all the insurance companys in the back and maybe (as a last resort go for something like a er6f or a sv650 they have the torque most people want and they top out 130ish and there also in a lower group insurance or a mid 90 sports bike like a thundercat)

nick hope it helped

Haggle

Bargain with them.

Say you got a quote from 'xxx' for £420 TPFT, can they beat it and if they can you'll go with them.

I haven't phoned around for the last 2 years of biking. I figure out a sum I am willing to pay and then find someone who will do it. Can't be arsed with phoning around.

By the way....1NCB, 21 years old I was about £440 for a zx6r j1 and £480 for a 00' firestorm. TPFT.
