Hey guys

After riding pretty much 365 days around 8 years i've had a few knocks.
Both my knees have been bashed in the past, nothing broken but still i know there's some damage there.

I jogged yesterday from the house to the end of the road to meet someone and my left knee was pretty painful on the knee cap, it's that old injury.
The reason it showed itself is because it was cold and i hadn't warmed up, i did some joggin/running in 2007 with no problems what so ever but this does worry me.

In October i had a smash when i hit a car door, my right wrist took a knock and it appeared to be a sprain. I had it looked at, the at the hospital said it will take sometime to heal but it isn't broken etc etc....
Well it's January now and i don't have much lifting power with my right wrist, it feels fine with movement now but any lifting and its quite painful. Confused
Still a sprain? I don't know, i was told by a women i know if it's tendons etc then it can take a long time to heal.

Thanks for reading, just a bit concerned, im far from being old and i don't want these to cause me problems.

just book an appointment and have it checked out, put your mind at rest. I dont have the foggiest idea why your knee hurts...or wrist...

Hey, unsure about your knee and such, but as for the wrist, october you say?

Thats nearly three months of not lifting things, not working as a wrist usually works. And it will hurt when you start lifting things again, cos on a small level, its like body-building - tearing the muscle so it can build back up stronger Thumbs Up you have to account for how long the wrist has been out of action (queue poor puns), so get some exercises done, like a stress ball/spring resisting training thingy and work that wrist back to full fitness Thumbs Up

If it is tendons, yeah it will take a long time to heal, but if you have full movement (and a bit more - try hyperextending it slowly and see if it hurts) it should be a good sign that its 80/90% of the way there mate.

Wrists are buggers to heal, I broke my wrist in November 06 and it still isn't sorted, especially in all this cold weather

Thanks guys....

The knee took a very hard knock in 99', the pain is like in the knee cap when, for example, i bend down without warning or sprint without warming up.

The wrist is fine in all movements, then when i pick things up, if my wrist bends in a certain way, ill want to drop the object.

I've had the same for about 15 years. I've always put it down to wear and tear from riding and falling off bikes, and martial arts. I've had a couple of operations on my knees and its helped but the pain is still there at times, particularly on damp days, dunno why? I've tried various supplements, glucosamine(sp) etc. but found good old cod liver oil to be just as good as anything.

Wrists are getting worse so I'll guess I'll have a doctor look at them sometime this year.

I squashed mine in a mountain bike crash (used them as shock absorbers to save me from a broken neck/skull) 14 years ago and they pop, click and give me pain on a daily basis. was a concern when I started riding as after a few days of training I was in severe pain when I got off the bike. After learning how to relax a bit more on the bike the're fine now, but niggle from time to time...

Killa, we all suffer from aches and pains in winter, some of us more than others. If you want piece of mind, see your doctor and maybe get some physio or anti inflammatory pills.

best wishes to you.

Thumbs Up
