i have a few random but very bright memories from very young.....

my first can of coke.....i was about 6 and on holiday.

sitting at my nans old piano talking to my uncle, who died when i was 5....he lived in manchester and didnt come down often, so i must have been about 4

being able to stand under the gateleg table in the kitchen, and just tip the top up with my head if i stood on tiptoe...must have been under 3

riding on a small wooden train toy (that i still have Embarassed ) its about 4" high and about 15" long, again, i must have been under 3

further back.....i can remember standing up at the side of my cot, crying, and my mum coming in to comfort me....i must have been under 2....

trouble is, most of the time now i cant remember what i did yesterday or where i put my keys 5 mins ago....

Hi

Have similar random early memories, and a lousy current memory.

Senility sucks.

Can remember going down a road looking up at trees. Under 2 at the time. Also have a vague memory of being in a baby seat on a bicycle which my moth crashed (lived in Norfolk at the time, she cycled out of the drive, across the road and into the ditch). Again under 2.

All the best

Keith

My earliest memories are living in Battersea. I was 18 months old when we moved from there.

very far back to when I was about 2 , when my dick of an uncle decided to give me a nip of whiskey and a cigar to chew on (lit) , I reckon it warped me into the fine outstanding person I am today , except at night when, mr Hyde comes out...

Remember some bits from when we first moved to Papua New Guinea (a young 2 I believe) and quite a lot from 3 onwards.

Bits from 2 was the car - a fancy (for us at the time) hire car, the hotel room vaguley and a beach ball being blown accross the road from the hotel to the beach on the other side.

Fractured skull when I was 1. I remember being on a trolley, with lots of white-coated figures around me.

But some people reckon memories earlier than 3 yrs are made up.
(Someone tells you about something and your brain fills in the details and stores as a memory) - I dunno.

I remember back around 1981-82. My dad used to work nights and would send me around the shops to buy his smokes. It was a good five minute walk to the shop, but there'd sometimes be enough change left over to buy the beano or 2000ad (still only 4p). That was when I was five going on six.
One of the earliest memories I have that I can confirm is going to white hart lane when I was three. We used to live around the corner from the stadium but moved away in 79. I've still no idea who they were playing or who won

Scraping the paint off my cot with my front teeth. No idea why.

Playing up in the pram when my sister took me to the shops, I wouldn’t sit properly in the chair, I sat on the belt that your feet go on and my foot got caught. I flew forwards and cracked my head open on the pavement.
Sad

My earliest memory is of one of my dad's mates, a mad Irishman called Vince, giving me some whisky at a family get-together. I was about four. And I remember my brother buying me a paid of 4oz boxing gloves around the same time, and teaching me how to fight. And I remember being sick at my school nativity play. I was one of the wise men, and I was supposed to be bringing frankincense, but I razzed up in the pot.

I used to have clearer memories, but then I discovered partying and I can't remember much at all any more.

I swore to my parents that I could remember going to Norfolk Broads when I was 3 years old, but then I began to doubt myself, however when we went there again this year it all came back to me. The smell and the general outlook was exactly the same as my imagination, so I can kind of confirm and rest as ease that I could remember a holiday we went on when I was three years old.

Funny you should say that Jon. I swore to my rents that I remember blackpool. But they said I cant do, because I was only 2.

BUT I went there about 6 months ago for a bit of a mad clubbing weekend. And It all came back to me.
The Trams, The Beaches, The Illuminations. Everything about it.

I do remember some holiday moments, only those things which would've interested me most as a kid. Like a little trip to the seaside, and Portland Bill, where we drove past this sorta deep 'well' thing in the road, and I looked down it and there were sharks circling in the water at the bottom. I doubt it really happened, but I still have nightmares about it.

The memories actually really freaked me out. Because it wasn't the same as any sort of memory where you just get the picture of the memory in your mind. But the sound, the smells every sense about it seems to have some profound effect on you. Like it is the first time you are truly alive, cause it is your first re collectable event.

Man, this is deep. Cool

I was born the same year, but missed the lunar lander by a few months. By coincidence though, I actually had the opportunity to see it at the Kennedy Space Centre when I was in my teens.

As for early memories, I remember playing in the sand/water trays with Lisa Sebburn in primary school, so I must have been 4.
The same classroom I remember Christopher Seldon wetting himself sat in his chair cos he was too shy to ask the teacher Mrs Price if he could go to the toilet Rolling Eyes Embarassed

Again in the same year I had a kitchen accident at home where my legs were scalded with hot milk (entirely my own fault BTW), and I always remember playing games with my mother while my legs were still in bandages.

I'm sure I saw a documentry that researched the age that most of us have our earliest memories from . . . . . Age 3 apparently (not many people remember anything before then).

Got me thinking now and i can remember the following

1) being at a pre school sort of "club" around fireworks night one year ('83ish - ugh) and we were told to draw a fireworks display. So we all sat there scrubbing away with our crayons and making a right old racket with various "sound effects" as well. Once completed, I remember someone near me being told "Thats just a scribbling!"

2) I remember being up on my First day to primary school, and seeing the street lights going out!

I also remember the hideous mops of curly ginger hair i used to end up with when i went ages between haircuts Confused Speaking of which, ive just remembered having my haircut once, and the barber had finished. He dusted all the cut hair off and then I remember the chair being dropped down/turned and my dad was stood there smiling. I cant have been very old then perhaps 3-4 ish again.

Edit: Just to say this is a way cool thread Smile

There was a white light, then sombody hit me...

Naah only joking, my earliest memories i think, are playing with my sister when she was born, i was 2, or visiting my Nana and my Aunt, i remember being in the middle of the room and running to one corner then saying goodbye to my Mum for the weekend. Funnily enough i can't remember coming into the house or anything, so i theorise this is where memory starts, i couldn't have been much more than 2 years old, i reckon slightly younger, my sister hadn't been born by then i think.
