Aww they just want some acknowledgement from you - be that a little blip of the throttle, a beep or even a wave. My son and his friends wave to bikers and are always chuffed to bits when they get a response. Laughing

Why though, it is noisy enough as it has no silencers and reving it will make me ride like a twat and go up the back of a car.

I suppose that the fact they are kids explains it.

Or is he smiling while holding a speed gun in his other hand?

Remember when I was a kid sellotaping some playing cards to the back forks of my push bike so that they flapped against the spokes and made a noise exactly like a motorbike engine! The faster I rode the better the sound got, until they were shredded....

Give them a blip of the throttle and stop being mean.

As you refered to them as scrotes, are you talking about the 10-14ish mini-chavs? and not the cute little 3 year olds... if thats the case theyre are generally just being nobs. Ignore them

I call them heymisters.

As in "Hey mister, how big is that?"
"Hey mister, Can that bike do a wheelie?"
"Hey mister, my dads bike is faster than yours."

etc.

They want you to do a wheelie. Up to you if you want to oblige, I usually just wave ever since I wheelied my MZ FAR too high just after gearing it down.

they are the bikers of tomorrow

was out today, and we were at traffic lights and some kids walking past made motorbike noises.

I think its like pretending they have motorbikes, they were actually a bit surprised when nath and matt obliged by revving their real bikes in a similar way but much louder.

i was a hey mister once

how ever the hey misters who dont manage to get themselves in a position to buy a bike, will try to nick our bikes.

One hey mister liked to chat to me about my bikes, and not long after tried to nick one.

Fortunately i havnt seen him since.

I like to think that the chances are, if you do actually speak to them, if they nick a bike, at least they wont nick my one.

There's a few stand round and annoy me when I'm working on my bikes round my lockup. I always try and be polite and chatty with them. I also usually tell them some bullshit story about how a member of my gangs bike got nicked and how the rest of the gang tracked the thief down and put him in hospital.

Does no harm to lay some groundwork. Laughing
