As someone who has had great difficulty in finding clothes that fit (regardless of how much I have weighed at different times) I'm not entirely sure this would help. The problem isn't so much that a size 10 in one place is a 12 in another and so on, it's that there is no variation available in a single size to take account of body shapes. Bravissimo have tackled this problem to a small degree with their Curvy/Very Curvy/Super Curvy clothes sizing but this attitude to body shapes really needs to be extended to other stores. Most women are not a single size on chest/waist/hips, so why do they insist on trying to make us fit into such (yes, I know, it's financially motivated - it was a rhetorical question ).
(On a (very) side note that is cricket related - blimey the Saffers are all over Pakistan... just got the 4th wicket of the morning whilst I was typing this! Gooooooo Saffers!) ____________________ "when i look down i just miss all the good stuff

They are planning to measure Spanish women and change the shapes/sizes of clothing accordingly. I'm unsure of the last time this was done in the UK - I'm positive that the average body shape is completely different to that 40 years ago.
However, I'm with Strawberry on this, I don't have problems finding clothes to fit, though I do have a few shops that I go to regularly that make my 'shape' in a small enough size - worryingly one of those places is Zara, so fingers crossed they don't change their sizing too much! ____________________ Avast! I *think* the last major overhaul of womens sizing in the UK was done in the early 50's. From what I can tell women seem to have considerably larger waists now with slightly larger chest/hip measurements. If they re-jig the sizing to take this into account I'm completely fubared in the clothes shopping sense I need a larger differential in waist to hips/chest, not a smaller. Meep.
All hail having clothes made to measure! It's the way forward - you get what you want *and* it fits. Rar! ____________________ "when i look down i just miss all the good stuff

im not being sexist, as it applies to blokes too
im a bit over weight, and my motivation to lose a bit of weight is for the sake of appearance, but it would be good for my health too.
Its good that we have examples of how its good to look thin, as thin is healthy. Obviously not to the extent of keira knightly and other anorexic looking ones, but thats an exaggerated thinnes taking thinness to the extreme.
For example, i recently met a bloke who used to do a bit of boxing. He was a similar height to me, and I asked what his fighting weight was.
That gives me an idea of what a healthy weight is for my height.
I am over that weight, so I am over weight, and its good to know what my target weight would be.
Obviously there are some people who take things to far, but a bit of body consciousness is a good thing and stops us all turning into big lumps of lard quite so quickly. |
