How good are the shows to buy gear? I'm not trying to ask a stupid readicous question. But I recently passed my test and got a jacket and gloves but no lid/trousers/leathers etc. Don't particularly want the latest gear but then if there's bargains to be had, it might be cool to take a look..

I think the BMF is the best, though unless you're going to get alot of kit, the entrance price and the cost of getting to it can compromise the cheap prices.

I got a pro grip back protector for £15, my agv v flyer for £240 with dark visor and my frank thomas aqua jacket as a factory second as the stitchin in one of the arm pits was sewn by a machinist on acid.(£40)

all of which were alot cheaper at the time than what I could of gotten in shops.

I'd probably use ebay rather than shows to get kit though it's a good opportunity to go and try kit on and wave cash around to get more discounts...aswell as a day out.

in seriousness now-
i was going to go to the london motorcycle show this weekend. there are two reasons why i'm not. mostly it's that i don't think i have anyone to go with (Sad)
the other is that all the equipment i'm looking at getting, i can get locally for around the same price. or it would be the same price if i got it at a show when you factor in the petrol to get there, the entrance fee, and the food/drink you'll want.

Apparently last weekends was awful hardly anything there because of the split.

BMF year before last rocked. I got my partners Leather, Helmet and myself some random kit including a good set of boots for a tenner from the Hein Gericke tent.

Mry first kit I got from Rock and Blues. I picked up an end of line lid for £15 and a Leather (which is still my main Leather six years on!) for £30.

Kit is a damned good excuse for attending a bike show, but it is an excuse more than a valid reason. A shows main advantage over ebay is you can try on the kit before laying down cash on it.
