I have a very old GSXR 1100 (1989).

It has done 41,000 miles, it still goes like stink, it has never been apart, never uses any oil, does not smoke and never drinks coffee.

Am I lucky Very Happy or is this because this motor never wares out.

Has anyone had the same Mr. Green

Hi

It is a 160mph bike. Hardly like it spends much time being thrashed.

Seriously, larger engines tend to get an easier life as they spend so little time anywhere near there limit. That engine can also be easily tuned to produce far more power.

All the best

Keith

GSXR engines tend to be 'bulletproof' so with regular oil changes and little thrashing, I'd expect many more miles on that machine. I reckon if something was gonna go wrong, it would have happened by now.

Thanks Guys, I was expecting bad news, I have heard these motors are bomb proof, just thought I might ask.

Tuning wise, how much can you do to these motors Thinking

40k on a 1100 is nothing. My old mans 89' trumpet bonnie 750 has 80k on the clock and its still going well. I know its a completely different bike but it can still do 140 Wink

Wasnt it on tv sometime ago that the old gsxr's are future classics?

On the topic of old gsxr's, a mate of mine has just rebuild a 750 with an 840 kit Twisted Evil Mr. Green.

Just thought aswell, a bike with 40k on its clocks suggests its been looked after. Most sports bikes get trashed/written off a looong way before 40k!

Same engine (basically) is used in the Bandit, and there are quite a few people around who will tune them.

For example:-

My Bandit engine was played with by Big CC Racing, but with their change of web site it isn't so easy to list their packages.

All the best
