Naked 400s

Hey ppl

What do you all think of naked 400s?? I have been getting some insurance quotes for a VFR and ZXR, and now the idea of gettin one doesnt seem so realistic

I am only 17, so I doubt a 600 would be insurable either (and I really like the Hornet)

I quite like the Suzuki Goose, it looks good standard and would make a nice streetfighter I reckon I have also been looking into Honda Super Fours, Honda CB1s and Bandit 400s. Which one is better??

As I've mentioned before I quite like the idea of the Goose... never ridden one though.

Not sure about the differences between the CB/bandit... you could also consider a Fazer400 or possibly a SZR or even big trailie/super moto (if you'll fit).

The trouble with the 400s is trying to find a nice one. The old late 80's / early 90s CB400 was a nice bike, but most seem to be being used for DAS training, or look like they have been used for that for a few years already

The Goose is only a 350 single I think. Dont think it would need restricting down to 33hp. The Bandit 400 is (to me) probably the best looking, but I havent seen a nice one for a while. The SZR660 isnt bad, but not really that much quicker than a 2 squeak 125 (think the SZR uses the old Italian market TZR125 frame, which is the frame from the TZR250)

U could probable buy an after market fairing and fit it with a few mods and new light,

OK cheers for your help. I also like the Bandits, and they're quite cheap so I'll keep a look out for one! Although for looks... I like the Goose. I heard they are exactly 33bhp standard, which is good I don't really need a bike that can be derestricted to 60bhp when the 2 years are up anyway... knowing me I'll be bored of whatever I get by then

And Ropehead, I was planning on doing a few Streetfighter mods when I got the money and the patience

bandits are supposed to shit on 33bhp, becuase of the weight. same for a lot of things.
the cb400 is ok, but the cb350 is a bit lighter, still giving just over 33bhp.
get sued bike guide and have a look through the price guide, they have pretty much all the bikes and their specs. anything over about 150 kilos will be too heavy.
also, insurance is dirt cheap for 4 stroke unfaired 250s, apart from the hornet because it is a good bike.

Hornet 250 insurance is dirt cheap! My mates got one and he pays £250FC at 20 with 2ncd.

Imnot that keen on the bike tho - its heavt cuz it uses the same frame as the 600 and its not that quick. Hes just about had 100 out of it.

my quote for a hornet came out at about 650 at 17 with 1 year ncb, the cb250 is 330, both TPFT.
also the hornet is expensive to buy, still a lovely bike.

The 250 Hornet looks really nice but other than that you have to wonder why someone would get one. They're more to insure than a 2T 125 but not much more powerful and like you say they're really expensive cos they're so rare.
Nice but I can't help thinking they're a bit pointless. Not worth getting just for the looks.
