Have done this, it's very easy. We have nothing to lose by trying - if you don't want Tony & Gordon to have all our money because we drive a car or bike, then please at least sign up THIS IS REAL AND IT IS A PROPER GOVERNMENT SITE!!! The government's proposal to introduce road pricing will mean you having to purchase a tracking device for your car and paying a monthly bill to use it. The tracking device will cost about £200 and in a recent study by the BBC, the lowest monthly bill was £28 for a rural florist and £194 for a delivery driver. A non working Mum who used the car to take the kids to school paid £86 in one month. On top of this massive increase in tax, you will be tracked. Somebody will know where you are at all times. They will also know how fast you have been going, so even if you accidentally creep over a speed limit* you can expect and additional fine with your monthly bill. If you care about our freedoms and stopping the constant bashing of the car driver, please sign the petition on No 10's new website https://petitions.pm.gov.uk/traveltax/ Please pass this on to anyone who owns a car/motorcycle. It affects them. * Its not limited to speeding. They also know where parking restrictions etc are located. And you! (Additional - I have just been on the No10 site and there is LESS than 500k signed up to it. There are over 30million vehicles and drivers in this country. Just to register 3% of those against this proposal there needs to be 900k signed up! and the closing date is 20/02/07. Did you know about this? I did'nt.)

My original reason for buying a motobike was solitude. I reserve the right to ride my motorcycle into the beautiful Welsh hills, just behind where I live, for the purpose of enjoyment and to have solitude.

So, let me get this right.
You don't want Big Brother (the Orwell version, not channel 4s) knowing your every move. In order to do this you put your name on a petition run by the government (aka Big Brother) on it's No. 10 site (aka where Big Brother's head man lives). Hmmm, conspiracy theory about MI5 files anyone?

You'd have to get one if they were required by law and without it the insurance cover was invalid etc etc.
If they want it they have endless sneaky was of getting it in.
"consultation periods" (but ignore comments that aren't in favour)
"Limited trials" (declare trial was a resounding success with problems)

Just look as an example daytime lights, which were continually proposed but could not be got through after much lobbying by riders groups against compulsary use - but lo and behold a few years later all new bikes have headlights you can't turn off as standard anyway.

One thing though, if this kind of thing ever was to come into effect surely if they can judge distance we are moving... how long will it be before its possible to tell how many times we been over the speed limit etc?
