Failed! Stupid me :(

Well i didnt make it im afraid, both i realised pretty much straight away! Left indicator on after coming out junction from test centre 2 Mins into the test, think the nerves got me, trying to make sure i was remembering everything else and ended up riding through a roundabout with it still on. So that pretty much put a downer on the rest of the test. Then i locked the back wheel on the emergency stop which was the first time i have locked it even when practicing in the rain and all sorts! Of all the silly things! Thought i'd mess up the U-turn as i was practicing in a carpark before hand and couldnt do them but on the test ended up being the best U-turn i'd ever done! Shame really only got 6 minors other than that. 3 Weeks now till retest and my nc30 is gonna be getting lonely at the shop all on its own...

Ah well at least me and the ped can spend a bit more quality time together!

What a bummer sounds like the nerves got to you I know been there done that got the t-shirt. I was really gutted when I failed first time but today I passed and well I was ecstatic. Forgetting to turn the indicators off is so easy to do I recomend get into the habbit of talking through the procedure indicate count to 3 look in mirror cancel if that does not work then think about putting a beeper on so you know they havent been cancelled.

Better luck on your next one and look on the bright side you have done it once so will not be as nervous next time.

I had to do that for my controlled stop. . . . . FRONT . . . REAR . . LATE CLUTCH! Othewise I locked the back wheel (easy to do on a CB125).

PMA is hard. Fuck up, never mind, take the 'I'll show them I'm not crap' rather than, . . . 'oh I am crap' attitiude.

Don't use the rear brake - just make it look like you do The emergency stop in the test is hardly that - it's not heavy braking.

A tip my instructor gave me was to sing a song in your head as you ride. Just the first line. When you finish the line check 4 things:

Dashboard (speed, turn signals etc)
Distance from vehicles in front
Mirrors
Road position

Then repeat. Over and over. Keep it up for 40 minutes and the job's a goodun.

Anyway, take what you can positive from this. You know you can ride well and you'll never forget to check your turn signals again. Above and beyond all else you know you can do a u-turn under test conditions - that will really settle your nerves for next time.

Thanks alot guys, some good tips there! i'll definitely give them a go! does anyone think its worth spending half a day back with my instructor just before the test with it being 3 weeks away? Im pretty confident that i'll be fine as i'll know what to expect, but theres always that niggling doubt i might of forgotten something...
Thing is its cost me a small fortune already having to pay for bike hire and instructors time twice already due to cancellation of test last week and today. now got to fork out more with the retest and stuff!

I did my cbt with an instructor and did the rest on my own after the first fail I bought some books

1) the official dsa guide to riding the essential skills isbn 0-11-552644-7 £12.99

2) the official dsa guide to learning to ride isbn 0-11-552645-5
£7.99

the first one is the better of the two and tells you all you need to know totall cost £22.00 if you get em from amazon then theres no postage.

It was gonna cost me £300 to do my test with a school so I thought long and hard ( 2 mins) and went with the teach myself approach hope this helps

It does not matter if you stall the motor on the stop so keep your hand off the clutch. You will not lock your wheel if you keep the clutch engaged and it is good practice for snow riding.
