After my second accident, i wrote to the salvage company to reclaim my tax disc (it had 9 months to go).

After my first accident, when writing to the salvage company, it transpired that my tax disk 'Had disappeared.'

Ok, i thought, the first one was a bad smash - it might have been swept up in the debris. This accident wasn't as bad - i even saw the tax disk in the holder on the left footpeg on my bike.

A letter came through today from the salvage company and guess what - The tax disk.............WASN'T On The Bike!

What a suprise............ Rolling Eyes

Both salvage companies had 'no idea where it had gone'.

This confirms my suspicions, that Zenith and their affiliated agencies are just a bunch of useless thieving cunts. Middle Finger Evil or Very Mad Middle Finger

What could they do with them though? It's been a while since i cashed one in so i can't remember exactly how it works. But if someone tries to cash it in doesn't the cheque get sent to the registered owner anyway, i.e you.

I didn't think you needed to send the disc back in all circumstances to get your refund, I know you don't if the bike has been stolen and assumed it would be the same if it was written off?

A phone call to the DVLA confirms that the tax disk has ALREADY been submitted for £ back on the remaining months.

As i bought the disk, i SHOULD get the money, but according to the lady, there are ways around that.

I cant imagine they are doing it out of the goodness of their hearts and will send me the money.......

That's either theft or fraud, ring the police. The DVLA will have to disclose who has sent in the application.......... Thumbs Up

There is a question of who owns the bike, if you're claiming for it - and I would presume the tax disc is included.

Damn dodgy if they're lying about it though Thumbs Down.

The lady said in cases like these, the ''refund'' would go to the ''buyer'' of the disk - as it has been stolen/written off.

Yeah that just occurred to me actually. If they had legal title to the bike and therefore the tax disc why would they need to tell you it had been "lost"? They could be upfront and say nah mate, that's ours, if it actually was theirs legally.

So did you AGREE that the tax disc was included in the 'sale' of the bike? You could argue that you did NOT agree, hence why you called them and asked them for it back, there reply to that question proves theft.

I certainly didn't agree because i was told it was being repaired.

Then i hear it's been written off.

Now i try to claim it - apparantly they are 'unable to locate the tax disc on the bike.'

Well i left it where it's always been.

The missing tax disc 'incident' has happened before with Recovery Companies.......

I am.

We cant prove deception as we dont know under what pretence the disk was submitted under.

However- it has apparantly been ''sorted'' now. A call from the DVLA told me not to worry........Cool

I await further news. Confused
