How old are you?

Who did you used to work for and what did you do?

Most my family are in the oil industry. So will let you know if I hear anything.

I'm also interested in this, what kind of jobs are going, what do they entail etc.
Wishaykillie aren't you an electrician on them? What kind of training did you do beforehand?

Every kind of job is going at the moment. Although drilling has went a bit quiet over the past few months out here.
There is a huge range of jobs out here. The platforms are mini factories so you need everything from, Riggers, Mechanics, Electrician to Chemists and Absailers.

Im a Drilling Electrician so I look after all the Drilling side of things. Our own generation, lighting, air supply, Drilling equipment etc.
I was lucky as I got taken on as a "trainee" for 10 months so the company put me through all my courses. Including my survival, Rigging and lifting, SCR's, Top Drives, first aid, COSHH which saved me alot of money Very Happy

It's not what you know it's who you know Wink . I was told that thety were recruting "Greenhands" and to put my CV in but I was in no way guarenteed a job. They have had two intakes off people off the street with a couple of years trade experience and put them through their courses and then put them on a rig to train up on the equipment then made us Rig Electricians/Mechanics on our own rig Very Happy

WishayKillie - who exactly do you forward a CV to? lol you got any contact details of anybody? I have some experience as a mechanic under my belt aswell as an NVQ. May be enough to persuade them to take me on as a trainee? Very Happy

EDIT - oh and thanks for the information, its great!
