Well, i'm a proud owner of a cagiva planet. It's a brilliant bike, and i love the 2-stroke buzz but I want more! More power! More Crazyness, and i want to make it look a little better.

It looked like this a few days ago:
https://w1.bikepics.com/pics/2006/07/11/bikepics-631387-full.jpg

Now i've ripped it down to this:
https://w2.bikepics.com/pics/2007/02/04/bikepics-791019-full.jpg
https://w2.bikepics.com/pics/2007/02/04/bikepics-791014-full.jpg

The engine shall be vacating the frame soon, and i should have some sheet metal coming my way to fabricate some engine mounts.

I also have one of these lurking around in the garage:
https://www.alkamoto.co.uk/ducati/ducati%20thumbnails/duc_916_swingarm_g.gif

Hopefully i'll be able to get it looking how i want it. It'll be dark kandy red with matt black bits and bobs, black engine, black & polished rims, and red bolts here and there.

I'm hopefully going to get the exhausts going up the right hand side with twin stacked cans high up next to the rear wheel, along the lines of:
https://www.easterncycleducati.com/new%20pics/Kazoo%20Brutale.jpg

Anyway, my plans for the next week: Get the engine dropped, and engine electrics removed, get the 350 lump mocked in position, and bracket templates sorted. Hopefully i should be able to get the ducati swinger slotted in, too, but it'll mean removal of the side stand mount, which will have to be moved outwards and re-welded.

Jack

It's such a cracking looking bike. I don't know why they didn't do a bigger brother of the planet....with perhaps the canyon 500/600 engine. Would look ace and probably have outsold all their other models (bar the mito perhaps)

The raptor is fugly to say the least. The river is a budget commuter and is certainly styled as such.

I think the planet has superb styling, very different in my eyes to what is currently available. That with their 650 raptor engine in would be ideal. Thumbs Up

Bigworm on 125ccsportbikes is actually building a mito with an SV engine in it (same as used by the raptor 650). It's a side project i think, as the 250cc 3ma project seems to be his main focus.

Cagiva have released plans to put a 500cc husqvarna engine into a mito frame. If this gets the green light, a 500cc raptor could get the go-ahead (planet has now been rebadged raptor), doubtful considering the 650 version, but it would be a hoot.

And what a stupid idea it was. Italian bikes aren't associated with reliable commuting, they're associated with a lack of reliability, and overdoses of flamboyance and flair, so no matter how capable it is, it would never appeal to 99% of riders.

Got a url for his project. Love the sv engine...love the mito looks. Imagine if he got it working, it would be superb.

cool project Thumbs Up I used to have a planet ages ago and I stripped it like that a couple of times, why is it that everything is held on with allen bolts? Smile

Also I'm not 100% sure, but I think I read that cagiva plan to bring out a new 650 raptor that looks more like the planet?

sure do, but:

A: I love 2-stroke buzz
b: the bigger 2-strokes that appeal are the RS, RGV and NSR 250s but the RGV and aprilia have more tempremental engines than the RD, which is in a lower state of tune. The NSR is just too expensive, and parts are hard come by.

No matter what bike i buy there will always be things i don't like. This way i'm building "my bike" exactly the way i want it!

Mr Instigator! That's the link for the 3ma project, but there's a couple of pictures of the SV project on there.

Pfft, sounds like you're another die hard stroker fan then.

Just ride a K6 GSXR750 and your opinions will change young padawan Wink

Doubt it.

I've ridden a lot of bikes, everything from a CG125 to a '98 R1, and it doesn't matter which one I chose as my main bike, I still have a hankering for a two stroke somewhere.

Actually I'm really looking forward to getting my KE100 on the road so I can commute on a two stroke again. Ah Bliss...
