Recently purchased a Sony LCD TV.

I also purchased a glass stand for the TV as I have no current plans to hang it on the wall. Now I've got 3 visible cables (TV, Recordable DVD and HD Box) snaking across the floor (over the space of approximately 2 or maybe 3 feet) soon to be followed by another one when I get a decent (and reasonably priced!) speaker system.

The cables have never been a problem beforehand as I had a bloody great TV stand to hide them behind but now they really do spoil the overall look of the area where the TV is at it's pretty minimialist.

Anyone got any decent/unusual suggestions other then the usual black cable tidy shown below?

ANY suggestions welcome no matter how weird, wonderful or extravagant (although I draw the line at digging the floor up Wink )

Thumbs Up

Search for cable trunking, there are some that go next to your skirting board, and blend well.

Failing that have a browse on www.avforums.com guys on there are really good.

There are several options available. You can get proper plastic trunking from somewhere like B&Q which can look quite tidy but needs to be mounted to the wall properly. I have some of my cables in the cable tidys you have shown up there. Another option is garden hose, just cut it to length and cut a slit down it with a very sharp knife. This is very cheap to do and you can pretty much have any length you want.

Wickes sell white ducting in various wizes, 3m long just cut to length. Just stick it along the edge of the skirting board, won't be too noticable

Show us a picture of what you have and maybe I can find you a solution? There might not be a tidy solution without getting the chisel out!!

Apologies for the late response but thanks very much for all the replies Gents, it's given me a few more ideas and is very much appreciated.

Villers - I'll take a photo of the area in question and PM it to you if that's OK, i'd be grateful for your input (but there's no way I'm getting a chisel out as I've only just had the place refloored and decorated Wink ) Cheers Thumbs Up

Its an absolute pain isnt it!! Its the same as when someone asks you to come round and 'do a couple of jobs' then when you get there it turns out they want some lights put right in the middle of the wall. I always tell them to put some sheets down so I can chase the cable up the wall and then tell them to pull the carpets up upstairs so I can lift the floor boards. 'Whys that?' 'so I can get the wires there' 'oh er right, im not that bothered really' ha ha!! Ive got an LCD but went for a different kind of stand so I could lash the cables toegether and hide them neatly, the glass ones give far too much away!! Good luck either way tho!! Thumbs Up
