What ae these little yellow cameras I keep seeing?

They have all been mobile cameras and all front facing. Kinda on a tripod.. But none have been signposted as speed cameras. Im thinking they are Tax disc checkers. Would anybody like to confirm this? Because I was doing 78ish in a 70 past one earlier, slowed to around 75 around it. And I realise that with speedos innacuracy it is more like 70mph I was doing, and the camera must allow up to 79mph anyway. I as in my car at the time.

But being the pessimist I am Im a little worried about it. So does anyone know what these cameras are? I have seem them by the shipload over the past weeks!

Cheers

Reevo

There are similar things near where I live turns out they are just monitoring how much traffic is on that road.

I wouldn't about it to be honest.

No, there's no rules about how much tolerance to allow, police can nick you at 71mph if they really want to.

There are a number of these small cameras, which are higher up then normal cameras popping up around London. From the road markings and seeing as they have been replacing older style speed cameras with these smaller ones.

Anyone want to speed past one and find out?

Hi

They might be ANPR cameras, which read the registration plate and check up on a database for insurance / mot / tax. And then they take the car and crush it even when it is insured Shocked .

If it is yellow then the chances are it is a speed camera. Small camera suggests a SPECs one, if installed in pairs. But don't think they can do mobile ones of those.

They can do you for any amount over the limit as Ste says.

Not a hope in hell that they are using a system to actually read the tax disk of passing vehicles.

All the best

Keith

It was so much smaller than all of the cameras which have been guessed at here. There was not policeman outside of their vehicle, and it wasnt sticking out of the back of a van. Was positioned alongside a normal police sallon car.

Meh, my mind has pretty much convinced me that this little baby camera is just a monitoring thing and nothing will come of it.

It was like a standalong camera the size of an average mobile phone on the top of a small weak looking skinny tripod.

I know its not Staffs. But a mate of mine got done for 37 in a 30.

I also got done for 39 in a 30. However, I Genuinely thaught it was a 40mph limit. Anybody who knows Medway will understand. The Main A2 leading from chatham, Right through newington, Bobbing, To Sittingbourne way.

Theres a few cameras up there. 30, 40, 30, 40 etc. pain in the arse! Thumbs Down
