Hi all

I am new to this forum and i am looking for some advice

I am 41 years old and about to take my Direct access test

I am not new to motorbikes having raced motocross dabbled in trials riding and just sold a road legal YFZ 450 quad bike.

I have always wanted to take my bike test but until now not had the oppertunity.

IF! i pass my test i want to buy a enduro bike for green laneing etc, would any of you be able to give me advise on the best enduro to go for?
i like the WR 450 it would have to be secondhand any other suggestions?

Also what is the cost of insurance like for this type of bike?

As said i am 41 with a clean car licence for 23 years

I know post code etc plays a part in the cost but a ball park idea would be good for somebody like me with a new bike licence

Thanks for your help

I have no idea what a WR450 is like, but as for insurance costs....why dont you do a online quote/telephone quote at Carole Nash or somewhere like that. It will give you some idea what to expect.

WR450 is supposed to be a decent enduro bike with a good compromise of service intervals and performance.

A sort of 'confused.com' for bikes. It'll give you a ball park.

Been popular lately the Enduro bikes. I been looking at them a while now and i have a clear favourite.

My big big reccommendation is the BMW FS650.

Gorgeous looking and very well built far as i can gather, BMW is obviously a reputable make. Wink Can handle alot of rough an ready long as your not getting real serious round the world stuff, was the bike i was first drawn to and continually reccommended for green laning. Looks like real good fun bike without being too pricey, unmanagebale (like the GS1200) or likely to die on you.

So thats my two pennies worth.

The BMW 650 will be no where near the level of handling/performance compared to the WR for an enduro I reckon.

for green laning people tend to prefer something that is more offroad than onroad.

the bmw is more onroad than offroad.

From what i've heard the WR450 is a pretty decent bike. It can also be super mottoed fairly easily for on road performance.
