I,m going to look at a tidy 1993 one with 50,000 miles on the clocks in the morning, l,ve seen quite a few around London, are they descent bikes or should l stay clear?

100,000 couriers can't be wrong.

Do check over it thoroughly - it may have been owned by one of those 100,000 couriers and if a courier's trying to get rid, it may be a cause for concern.

Great bikes, allthough as has been said theres likely to be some very well used examples out there.. i'd only have one because i'm so far away from london and there not nearly as likely to hve been courriered.. but the same goes with the cx.

Hi. I despatched on one for 6 months. Heavy, but bullet proof, in my limited experience. I started on a 125k machine, which proves that servicing is a wonderful thing. Can have a clacking sound when idling, but apparently 'they all do that'. Comfy seat - you can go for miles. No need to rev them hard - it's a casual rider's bike (I was one of the slower couriers.. ahem).

I had one last year as a winter hack. good condition 30k and I got it for £350. Kept it over the winter and sold it after 2-3 months for £470. Only bought a rear rack for it since the previous owner lost his.... rear shock was a bit soft, but for the price can't complain.

GT550s are immortal , watch out whern it says 50K it probably means 150K or ever 250K , they are extremely tough but handle well , watch out for rusted tank logos , rotted pipes.

a '93 model will not be worth more than 500 quid, also watch out for Carb icing.

they handle quite well , but my GT550 had horrible brakes , ask Sickpup he's probably ridden more of those things than all of us put together

Alternatives are CX500s , which are also dispatcher tool favourites but ended production wayy earlier than GT550s ('99)
