OK, so here's another question for you 2t experts (seeing as my knowledge is sorely lacking)

Now that the bike runs again (big thanks too all) I've noticed that it isn't consuming a great amount of oil. I've checked the pump and it's working fine. It's also at the correct position (first notch at idle, second notch at full throttle)

It's always been like this. When I first bought the bike in October it had maybe half a tank full. I've done best part of 700Ks and the level doesn't seem to have dropped off that much.

Should I be using more? I know oil is in there because it smokes a bit when I start it up and recent efforts to start it up with full open throttle covered the plug in oil. Also if there wasn't enough lubrication I'm sure it would have blown up by now.

Your thoughts peeps? Either my engine is incredibly efficient or there's something wrong. I'm worried because I don't want to risk blowing it up.

Thanks.

I'd have filled mine several times by now. Are you sure the pump is working?

Easy way to find out... premix up some fuel and oil in your petrol tank. (40:1 should be fine for a quick test)

Disconnect oil pump hose from carb, and block up the nozzle on the carb that it came off.

Fire up the bike, rev it. If oil pump is working, it should trickle small amounts of oil out of the tube.

I had to refill my oil tank every 500-600 miles on my Mito.

Is that what the op meant though miles or KM's? Thats what i was getting at. If its 700miles there is something wrong, even 435miles its rather economical. Mr. Green

My NSR(and now CRM) doesn't use nearly as much per litre of petrol as my RS250 did I reckon, can't recall dusty's TZR being too bad either.
