Hi I'm starting my first project soon, I say mine my flatmates girlfriend has just bought an ancient FZR (B-Reg) In excellent condition (apart from bodywork) The forks, downpipes, calipers, wheels, pads and tyres are all great. The body work is the only bad thing, no cracks or chips but just mankey.

Right neither me or my flat mate has any experiance doing stuff like this, but we are gonna give it ago anyway, this is our plan.

Sand fairings down
Couple of coats of Primer
Spray black couple of coats
Spray red detail
Apply Decals
Laquer
Apply Rim Tape, new indi's and bar ends

Dremel downtubes - (how would I stop corrosion)

The exhaust has been painted in some thick black crap, what would be the best way to either paint it or polish it up.

Basically any advice would be great, the plan is a black bike with a red stripe coming from the wheel arch to the back.

The mud guard has a slight crack in it where it attaches to the fork, what would be the best way to repair that?

This project is on a shoe string budget as well so it probably won't be as entertaining as some of the other 400 project I won't be getting custom carbon delivered from Bogatar or anything Laughing

Has anyone got a side on shot of an outline of a bike, so I can do a bit of colouring in Laughing to show what it will look like.

Anyway pictures to come when she picks it up

This is a 600 fair enough, but close enough Thumbs Up

Check out www.fzrarchives.com/ipb for any hints and tips as they have a section for 400's.

The FZR is a doodle to work on and parts are quite easy to get hold of one way or another.

Some basic 400 facts

That post gave me the inspiration to do mine. A bog-standard office staple remover will help get the staples out, then use mole grips if one side of the staple stays stuck in.
