PostPosted: 17:25 - 09 Feb 2007    Post subject: My Afternoon Adventre On My Bike. Reply with quote

Hello as most of you know the weather has been snow snow and some more snow. So i decided that it would be fun to go off roading on my Honda TLR 200 trials bike. So at 2 o'clock I set out on a verry clean bike (i only just washed it on tuesday) I wraped up warm started the bike, drove down the drive and up on to the common. (locals call it the mountain so if i say the mountain it meens the common) I got up there and started rideing around.
Allthougt a bit slipery it was fun. I had a brand new tyre on my rear wheel but it wasent much use. Now then after a few near misses of falling off i decide to go for a long ride over the montain it goes for about 30 miles in all directions so there is plenty of places to ride. Allthought when you get up to the top of some of the hills and futher along the common you do become about 10 miles from any houses. Which did put me off abit. But I had my mobile with me and also my camera. I took some pics well i was out and about so here they are and i hope you like them.

I had to ride for only about 1/4 of a mile to get to the common but when all the local roads are like this its a bit harder than it sounds.

https://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r220/jamie_stokes_2/trialsinthesnow021.jpg

I keept taking a brake every now and then to take some pictures

https://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r220/jamie_stokes_2/trialsinthesnow001.jpg

I have no side stand on the bike so i had to put the bike on its side for some pics.

https://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r220/jamie_stokes_2/trialsinthesnow002.jpg

https://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r220/jamie_stokes_2/trialsinthesnow005.jpg

In this pic the bike is leaning on a mine shaft cover.

https://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r220/jamie_stokes_2/trialsinthesnow007.jpg

This is the same location again but I was bit futher away with the camera.

https://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r220/jamie_stokes_2/trialsinthesnow008.jpg

So after about 45 mins rideing I came to this place. They are Lime kilns and were used to burn lime dust (from a quary up here) and wood which could then be used to make Cement that will set under water (They used the cement from here to make the docks in liverpool)

https://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r220/jamie_stokes_2/trialsinthesnow009.jpg

I decided i would take a rest and warm up in the bottom of them. so i pushed the bike in and sat down for a bit.

https://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r220/jamie_stokes_2/trialsinthesnow011.jpg

https://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r220/jamie_stokes_2/trialsinthesnow012.jpg

Its a good job i didant decide to sit in this one:

https://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r220/jamie_stokes_2/trialsinthesnow014.jpg

This is an old building which i have been told was used by the mountain recscue when they had a base up here.

https://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r220/jamie_stokes_2/trialsinthesnow016.jpg

I think this is a bit of a random place to leave a stone sticking out of the ground. but it makes a good place to lean the bike on.

https://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r220/jamie_stokes_2/trialsinthesnow017.jpg

The new tyre was not much of a help:

https://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r220/jamie_stokes_2/trialsinthesnow018.jpg

My luck came to an end when i came down this hill a little to fast and this is how the bike ended up :

https://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r220/jamie_stokes_2/trialsinthesnow020.jpg

And finaly back at home safe and sound.

https://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r220/jamie_stokes_2/trialsinthesnow022.jpg

I had a verry fun day today in the snow. And I was quite warm once I stated rideing.
thanks for taking the time to look and read my post

jamie stokes

EDIT: On the spedo it said I had done 18 miles

Interesting, informative and well written Thumbs Up

I enjoyed the read and the fantastic photos. Looks like you've got *real* snow up there in North Wales unlike us pansies in the Midlands who grind to a halt from a small dusting!

Yep it's real snow up these parts bella !
And the pics would have been better if it wasent snowing. because the snow went on the lense.
According to the news North Wales has got to put up with this snow falling for another 3 days

Looks like a load of fun. You've got more snow on your doorstep than we have in our entire village. It seems to have missed us.

Looks like fun, I imagine you need to be well padded as not to freeze your nads off?

Also, what's the gig with that? I take it it's not a public road?

I mean is it all just hillside, or what?

Is it a road that anyone can drive down? I'm thinking from an insurance point of view.

Indeed; an interesting response from a few people that posted in Fenton's thread Wink.

Unless of course he was purely on private ground which he had permission to be on and the public did not have access to.

Personally, I don't have a problem with it.

once you leave the road you go on to the common land.
the road is a local road that goes to the next village up here
all of them pics are about 5 miles from any road

You have ridden a bike whilst being underage on a public highway without:

Arrow Insurance
Arrow Tax
Arrow MOT not to mention the fact that the bike is not for road use in the 1st place
Arrow License

And, although its 'common' land, it must belong to someone as its not bridle ways and dirt tracks, so no permission either.

Glad you liked the read. And there are some people who ride on a daily basis with no tax, mot, licence, ect so im not going to worrie about a 1/4 mile trip on a extreamly quite road.
i have NEVER seen a police car up here in 14 years of living up here

In those conditions I don't imagine there were many cars up there, and I really doubt there was any going quickly, so I really doubt he could have effected anyone.
