Good old CG125, bought off someone on BCF, and was in fairly good condition for its age.

(cleanest it ever was)

Passed my CBT on her, then decided to change a few things, mostly the handlebars as the standard ones were just too small for me, also around this time I discovered rat biking, and my ex keyed the tank, so out came the leather and gaffer tape.

(the flat tracker look)

Shortly after passing my test on her, and repairing crash damage from low siding on a roundabout, and rear ending a Mondeo, I got into green-laning, so I decided to make a high level pipe for it. With the help of a mate who has experience in both making off-roaders, and riding off-road, it soon evolved into a comfortable green lane tool, complete with welding gas can exhaust, MZ shocks on the back for more height, an ammo box as a top box, hand guards and a high level mudguard.

(slowly evolving into a full on rat)

Also went on a few rideouts with a few people from BCF, elan valey included, was funny trying to climb the sides with road tyres.

(moss is slippy)

Fast forward to the January rat rally, met a few people, both ratters and 'shiny bike riders', including nath, and rode the famous 550.

(when i could start it)

Also Did the cat and fiddle for the first time, was a great road, even on a small bike with off-road tyres.

(on the top)

https://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg307/virusjohn/3b564be2.jpg
(almost fully loaded)

In the few months that passed, I spent a lot of time off-roading, mostly on my own, gotta love the peace and quiet, so on went the off-road tyres, block pattern on the front, cats paw on the back, always had plenty of grip and control on every surface, including hill climbing.
A few nasty accidents persuaded me to get some better hand guards, so after my mate donated me a trailer board, I promptly cut some 3mm ally plate hand guards and fitted them up.

(aerodynamic....)

And before long, id gone off on one with the angle grinder and cut it down to single seater, also me and my friend made a Marshall deeptone high level pipe for it, which sounded awesome.

(first test of the new pipe)

https://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg307/virusjohn/inwaterside.jpg
(a bit of off-roading)

Then came Rat and Survival 08, I met a bunch of like minded nutters, with equally nuts bikes, and had a great laugh.
https://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg307/virusjohn/rat%20and%20survival%2008/13bf2385.jpg
(on a ride out with a few ratters, found an awesome abandoned warehouse)

https://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg307/virusjohn/rat%20and%20survival%2008/bded812f.jpg

Then on the way home from R+S, everything died, a few had shoulder checks put it down to no spark, turns out the points had siezed, so out with the recovery truck to get home.
https://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg307/virusjohn/rat%20and%20survival%2008/6625bb8b.jpg
(waiting on the hard shoulder)

Since then its been sat in my back garden, found out it had a nackered condenser, and couldn't be bothered to fix it. Spent most of my time riding the cb250rs, and the last few weeks ive been working on the gpz.

And now I pass the story over to nick, who I expect will make a new thread with what he has planned for the bike, I look forward to seeing it completed.

So on that note, I say goodbye to the CG, it did me proud and never failed me through any fault of its own, all caused by my previous mechanical ineptitude. no doubt it will be the same for Nick, all be it a lot lower. Wink

Cheers
John

Tis a bit a legend to be honest, and now it falls to you to carry it on.

If you ever sell it, youve got to sell it so someone on BCF who want to turn it into a cafe racer or something else different. Laughing

Cheers

How much did you sell it for if you don't mind me asking?

Nice little right up. Looked a lot better after than before. It actually had more of a use than the standard CG.

It looked a million times better at the beginning in my opinion. At least at first it was reasonably tidy, now it just looks like you couldn't afford a proper bike, so you bought that.

How did you get that home made exhaust to pass MOT? I thought they all had to be BSA (?) marked.

the welding can exhaust was highly illegal, the marshall wasnt exactly quiet enough for MOT either.

Standard can was put back on for MOT. Laughing
