Right, I haven't done a mail merge for years (and I mean YEARS!) and I'm about to start doing a medium size mail out for new business.

But, I don't have a database application installed (I have office, but just have excel and word installed as it's all I've ever needed) what I want to know is...

Can I store the addresses I'm going to need to print the envelopes and address headers on my letters out with on a spreadsheet to be called in, or will I need to use a database, which will mean installing Access, which I don't really want to do unless I have to.

Anyone know for certain or have experience in doing it recently?

Adam

You don't need anything other than word to do a mail merge...

Click tools, letters and mailings and then mail merge then follow the wizard on the right, When you get to the section where you have to select recipients click type a new list - alterntivley it does look like you can use an excel spread sheet although I can't remember what the options are for that.

Hope That Helps Mr. Green Thumbs Up .

Yes you can create a database in excel

Create headers at the top in each column (Name, Address, etc) and keep individual records in rows (IE a full set of data goes horizontal)

As long as you keep the spreadsheet neat and well organised you can use it effectively in mail merges, have a look in the Word help documentation for info on how to use excel to perform a mail merge.
