I'm off to Good Hope Hospital tomorrow and they have a rip off car park charge of £2.50 minimum.
Does anyone know if us biker dudes have to pay??#
And if so, how the f**k are you meant to display the ticket? -
without someone piching it.

Erm, the car park management are the best people to tell you if you need to pay it or not. Sometimes bikes pay, sometimes they don't, it's entirely at the car park operator's discretion.

As for displaying it, there are a few options: on the inside of your screen, underneath your petrol flap, wrapped around your mirrors with a rubber band.

Some car parks don't have tickets but plastic cable tie thingies which can only be removed by breaking them, so nobody could use yours.

The thing to do to avoid another user nicking it is to write on it your licence plate number and 'MOTORCYCLE' in huge letters. Also, take a photo of it with your phone or at least make a note of any reference numbers by e.g., saving a text message.

Some car parks have tickets which are in two parts; you put one on your bike and keep the other one. You can then use your copy to get a possible parking ticket cancelled.

Stafford has a barriers that you take a token out of on entry, park up. Then when you come out of hospital you put your token in a machine pay and the token is returned as you need it to open the barrier to get off the car park.

However if i go on the bike i just park out the way and never pay...not had any troubles. Depends how strict they are there.

Paivi - Thanks very much for the advice.

I will be going armed with zip ties, a big pen, mobile camera and a reluctant £2.50. I will hunt out the car park hitler bloke first though and ask/bargain.

Pfft. Ride in, find somewhere out of the way. Leave it, don't pay. You've a bike; unless you're forced to pay, don't volunteer to. Don't be thoughtless about where you leave it and the chances are it'll be fine.

I never pay at Heartlands, just sneak past the barriers and sneak back out latter.

I have never paid to park the bike. Even in London.

Our hospital as three free bike spaces.

If they are full you can always find somewhere. Just be considerate.

As said before, just ride in, park up out the way, and ride out... usually room between barriers, or kerbing it to break out of the system designed to penn in the sheep...
