I knew it is snowing when I went to drop my son (in car). Still challenged myself to take the bike out for 25 miles commute!! Glad i did that as i saw MILES of standstill traffic.. Twisted Evil After reaching office, warmed hand for couple of minutes with hot air from exhaust and was gr8! Laughing
How about you ? Razz Thumbs Up

I rode in because I detest giving Ken Lingstone £10 for my commute when it could otherwise mean 4 days worth of petrol.

Chose to ride in the 700 yards (Need to go and get fuel at lunchtime anyway...) as it was sleeting it down and didn't relish a wet arse from cycling... Smile

Rode in the 40 miles even though it takes slightly longer (taking into account getting geared up beforehand) and was raining at 6-30 this morning as it costs almost twice as much in petrol and a bridge toll if I take the car.

Was snowing (and still is) quite a bit here in Surrey this morning, wasn't really much hassle riding in and I got up far too late to consider other methods of transport. Hope it doesn't start sticking though!

I rode because I have a big willy... Thinking Oh, no hang on. No I don't.

I rode because
(i) I didn't fancy sitting in stationary traffic for ten miles behind the same irritating car, my luck it would be something prosecutably bad like a pink convertible micra
(ii) I had the radio stolen out of my car, so am left with an aging Phillips manual tuner that barely holds signal.
(iii) There is no longer anywhere to park at work thanks to the Local Authority recruiting some busy bodies from Age Concern to hand out parking tickets to anyone who dare park in the derilict area of Chapel Ash for longer than 2 hours.
(iv) It costs me about 1/4 of the price in petrol
(v) I look 'Ard when I get to work Wink

So, despite spending the journey slipping and sliding all over the white lines, it took me 20 minutes instead of an hour Thumbs Up
Oh, and an M3 pulled over to let me through Shocked

As the snow didn't settle it wasn't too bad - anyway I wouldn't drive to work as it would take too long in London traffic.

I read; The M3 pulled over to let me through
No idea why.. Though The M4 yesterday sat in the centre and outside lanes, so I scooted down the inside lane and undertook everyone.

There was a touch of snow, but it didn't settle, now there's this other stuff falling, no idea what it is.. It's wet though- Some people call it rain I think,, never seen it myself. (terrible attempt at being funny, I'm so so sorry)

All I know is this weekend is spose to be in the high 30's.

Going on a ride out:

Quote:

Take 80 up over the mountain to 19 and gas up in Burnsville.

From there decide what loop to take giving time and weather????

Theres 3 Loops we could do from there........

Loop 1- would be 197(R) to 226 (L) to NC261/TN143 (L) to 19e take 19(L) to 173(L) then to TN107/NC226(L) then back down 197(R) to Burnsville.

Loop 2- 19 to 80(L) to 226 (L) follow to TN107 follow it to TN395/NC197(L) and back to Burnsville.

Loop 3- (depending on weather and time) We could shorten loop-2 doing the 19 - 80 - 226 - 197 ....

Loop time around 1 and 2 would be roughly 4 hours loop 3 would be about 3 hours from Marion (being 100% within the law)

Heres a quick map

Meeting place and Hwy80 first leg of trip......

loop1- marked in red
loop2- marked in blue
loop3- marked in yellow

THe loops....

I did. Normally I just go from Bldlow Ridge to Amersham but today I had to drop my girlfriend off at school. so that meant ride to Aylesbury then to Amersham in the snow. Girlfriend didn't mind and I certainly didn't mind. Must have passed at least 2 hours of traffic.

Cars having new gearbox so the bike is the only way to get to work.

Damn the nads were cold and as I was too stuburn to look for the neck sock thingy, my face was frozen to boot, but hell it was fun to play with the static traffic.

Even managed to overtake the odd motorcycle / ped in traffic and speed through as being followed by a big bike.

I do feel that I'm becoming addicted to filtering Laughing
