Hey there. I have come from the aprilia forum (i can imagine stones being thrown at me just about now). I have been led here by Keith (yes, keith the fountain of knowledge) because he said you guys might help me find a company that will insure 21 yearlods on bigger bikes like the R6 or GSXR 600s and the like. He said you guys know some companies that would do that. I figured it was worth a try. Anyway, happy riding to u all.

I kept a record of all the people I called for insurance and how much they wanted for me on a zx6r... all the details are on my site (click on the 'G' at the bottom)... In the end I got £500 TPFT with 1 year NCB at 2 years old.

Shocked That's quite impressive...I'm surprised that you can reach the handle bars at that age...

Mine was £700 for TPFT on a Honda RVF400, 18 years old, no ncb, no claims/convictions, garaged bike, pillion + commuting insurance included, 10,000 miles per year.

Policy runs out on the 18th of this month so I'm on the hunt at the moment. Dropping the pillion + commuting insurance as pretty soon the bike will have a single seat conversion and I don't ride it to work anymore. Anyone know what sort of a percentage these two make up?

Korn, I think the pillion passenger insurance makes a huge difference, or maybe it was just this particular insurance company. My mate is 17, had an RS50 but he is quite a big lad so decided not to go for a 125 and go for a H/J (something round there) CBR6, cos he was going to the Isle of Man and stuff on it.

He rang up some insurance companies and the first two quoted him £1600 TPFT, then with the same details minus the pillion passenger bit, they quoted him £750 TPFT, no NCB, Garaged, Cat 1 alarm, medium risk area, including commuting to work (at a pub Confused , I think he included this on the policy but not 100% sure cos he locks in up in the cellar anyway so not much chance of it getting tea leafed).

Hope this helps Korn, I think if you don't include the pillion passenger bit it should make a difference, but maybe not as much as my mate cos they're ain't many people interested in someone at 17 who's just passed their tested on a 160mph CBR600 bike.

try www.clickquote.com its not bad £750 tpft for Honda NSR 125 thats wiv no no claims bonus thats for a 17 year old.

I think you would have trouble getting insurance on an R6. Most insurance companies need you to be at least 25

the R6 would be harder to insure as it is classed as grp 15 and is more sportier than some ie tt600, thundercat,

but cbr6s are 1 grp down so a lit cheaper and arnt classed as racing 600s!!

Thanks everyone, that's a great help. Funny how when I asked the same question in the aprilia forum I didn't get much response. All the best.
