After my off, the claim has gone in my favour. So with the money that it looks like they're going to give me, I'm thinking about using the repair money to get a better exhaust. The stock ones were both damaged in the crash, and I fancied new ones anyway, the crash just gave me an excuse Smile

So I'm looking at getting a 4-1 Nexxus system for my Divvy 600. But apart from it looking nice and shiny...

Has anyone heard a Nexxus on a Divvy? Do they sound good? I've been told that the improvement in sound and volume is minimal Sad

Can the baffles be removed..? (Not that I would... Twisted Evil )

Would there be, even if very small, an increase in power at all? I've been told that, generally speaking, dual exhausts help top speed and single exhausts help acceleration. Can anyone verify this?

I looked into getting the nexxus, but never did as i didnt think it was worth it.

Krebsy had one on hid 600n, they look a bit better but for the money they cost i wouldnt bother.

Personally i like dual exhausts, they give it character.

350 quid for the full system.

The system I put on was a Motad/Nexxus 4 to 1. Shop around, you can get it for 350 quid. The mid-range feels a lot better since putting it on but I think the carbs still need tuning to get a bit more welly out of the engine (Which will get me up to 100 before the acceleration rate drops off).

One benefit of the new pipes is that I can get at the oil filter without any problems. Previously it was an absolute pain to change the filter as there was no space to work in.

Downsides? The breather pipe (which dribbles oil from time to time on Divvys) had to be moved or it would've rested on the new rear section and either covered it in crud or melted. the tube now drops straight down so I have to use a drip tray if the bike is on the centre stand to avaoid getting oil on the tyres. Also, you may need to put a spacer (i.e. a thick washer) in when you fit the rear. On mine, the rear brake pedal was catching as the indent for it on the pipe was not lined up fully. That was fixed with a fat washer or two on the rear mount. I can still lock up the rear without the full travel of the pedal anyway, so I'm not too worried.

Right.

Nexxus on any bike is basically standard. It looks a bit different but still, sound and tone is pathetically minimal. Not worth it.

You want special? Contact me via PM, and i can put you in contact with a freind of mine that has just finished his own 4-1 system with 50mm slip on capabilities. He current has a 50mm Carbon Can Co can that was originally off an R6.

Now that, is special Thumbs Up And as far as i am aware, a serious one off. And its all hand made Smile

Looks a little bit basic at the minute because its not fine tuned, but he has some serious plans for it and it realy does sound the business!

Apart from that, your basically going to be looking at nexxus as a start and end for your new exhaust. Unless you look at some serious modification yourself.

Thumbs Up

Get yourself a Vance & Hines from ebay. Would come from america. Removeable baffle too, the last time I checked. The downpipes are painted black but it's probably the 'sportiest' system you will get. Or perhaps a remus system.

Yeah but the buy it now price converts to something silly like £180. Even with import duty on it, it would be cheaper than the Nexxus.

A ha.. I hear my name being used in vain.. Smile

I priced up a set of options for my Divvy when the collectors went on the stock system.

4-2 Yamaha - £750
4-2 Nexxus - £450
4-1 Nexxus - £350

I still have the rear sections, albeit needing a clean and some work doing to them, on the garage floor... Smile.

Noise wise? The system sounds fine and changing the exhaust for a Nexxus is the "Standard upgrade" according to the Garage that happens to most Divvys anyway. I wouldn't go spending a fortune on a replacement exhaust as it's not that cost effective. Divvys are cheap and cheerful bikes so keep that in mind.

My exhaust sounded quieter, but the old one was farting exhaust gasses out from the collectors so one made of baked bean tins would've been an improvement.. Smile

I couldn't remove the baffles on the Nexxus as it's a sealed rear secton. I'd recommend possably removing the centre stand when fitting the new exhaust if you go for a 4-1 as it looks out of place and there is nothing for it to rest against once folded up so "flaps" around a bit. the rubber stops on the stand bump against the left exhaust and with no left pipe it clangs against the right.....

Here's some shots again of how it looks with the 4-1.

K.
