For years bikers have parked up on the Avenue of Lampposts along side the river and opposite the public bogs, a couple of years ago the twats on the council decided we made the place look like poo and banned us from parking and stuck us in a nasty car park around the corner so the nice Gringo tourists would not be upset by us scum.
I was in Stratford with the grandkids yesterday and noticed a tasty BMW off road type bike and a big Yam scooter in the old parking place. I had a chat with the riders and warned them they would get a ticket off the nice Middle Englanders that run the town.
They told me that a loophole had been discovered and the pavement between the wooden bollards and the grass does not belong to Stratford but to British Waterways and they do not give a flying wank about us displaying our machines.
Normal service is resumed.

erm I've always parked on the waterfront...

you're allowed to park on it technically as long as you dont ride on it...no one seems to care and no one's ever told us to 'behave' or 'abide' the law other than some bloke on a triumph tiger.

Ahh thursday evenings Stratford via gaydon and the fosse way... fun times

I've known of this 'loop hole' for a long time.

middle englanders will grab you by the short and curlies if you ride on their territory though

Always parked there.

And noticed just about every one still parks there. Police don't moan.

Plus its fun backfiring the bike with a load of jap school girls around Mr. Green

The Stratford road heading to Wroxton then Banbury is on of my all time favorite roads. Thumbs Up

Sunrise (sunrising ?) hill is the best corner ever.

Do it every year on the 1930 machine with a pillion and camping gear. I do not have the heart to tell her the brakes will do nothing on Sunrising to stop us in any kind of emergency.

I wouldn't want to try and stop quickly on that hill.. would end in carnage or foliage abuse

There are ways of braking old bikes that we normaly keep secret.
Engine braking and valve lifting in a low gear are good but my favourite is......
Ripping the HT lead out and opening the throttle wide,
This turns your motor into a compressor, the more air she can get in the greater the resistance and the slower she will go. Ones pillion is of course blisfully unaware of any problems untill it is felt wise to dump the bike into the ditch.

for that hill you need first or mayb second forn engine braking, this makes for very lumpy cornering...

better to just trust the tyres and fly round once commited..

I've been to Stratford a few times at the weekends during the last few summers but I've always parked in the special bike parking area at the Bridgefoot carpark.

I can't actually place where you folk are on about with this 'Avenue of Lampposts' and 'opposite the public bogs'. I'm not ashamed though to admitting that I don't know exactly where the public bogs are in Stratford upon Avon!

So where exactly is this hallowed 'loop hole' territory?

The Avenue of Lampposts is the road that runs to the Royal Shakespear Theater on the north bank of the river.
Cities from all over the world have sent Stratford a gift of a lampost and they are all along the side of the road there (I did tell the grandkids that the Lord Mayor nicks them when he goes on holiday) The bogs are just there and are very nice bogs, unusualy they have a flat above them, a nice place to live with a good view of the river it is just a shame about the stink of piss.

..bring spare undies

we then sit by the water drinking milkshakes from mc d's and talking of brown trouser moments...

I want summer back Crying or Very sad

Been up to Straford a few times, it's about 30-45 minutes from me. I was dissaspointed to see the stupid bike-park arrangement thing last time I went. Use to enjoy wandering down the loooong line of bikes whilst consuming my 99 flake in the middle of summer.
