Hi

Depends on which model of TZR250 it is. They were officially imported to the UK, and were fairly reliable. Top speed is around 120 (but you can get a bit more out of them by playing with the gearing). However, they are a 15 year old design now. Dont even think about one if you want to carry a pillion. We borrowed one to get some Pizza one day. 2 up with the pizza boxes on the tank, being held there by the pillion the front wheel wanted to go skyward all the time (no effort at all), and that was just bimbling along

There are several other version that were not imported

All thebest

Keith

Hi

Trouble with a 2 stroke 250 is the first time a piston dies (and it will with an RGV250) it is going to cost you £400 or so. General opinion seems to be about 10000 miles on a set of pistons on an RS250.

Find out which engine the TZR has. The original parallel twin with normal exhaust (not the reverse cylinder version) was fairly reliable

All the best

what is all that reverse cylinder muck on about anyway??? I wouldnt touch a 250 2 poke cause i wouldnt be able to keep £600 away for an engine rebuild. As long as you realise that the bike will need a lot of expensive maintinence....

Hi

I am a computer programmer for a living, just owned 2 squeak bikes for too long.

The reverse cylinder TZR250 had the pipes exiting from the backs of the barrels, over the gearbox and out under the seat.

The oil leak probably hinders power slightly, but not enough to worry about if there is just a minor oil leak. However, it does sound a bit dodgy. I would expect there to be something else to hold the can and expansion chamber together

All the best
