 |

Hi All,
First post so please be gentle
I have a GSX600FS 1994 which i have just accuired, problem was lumpy tickover and misfiring on acceleration upto 3000 rpm approx, then smooth and clean after that,
so oil and filter changed, plugs changed, carbs off in one lump not split, but did remove the carb bowls to remove muck, refit and now it won't idle below 2500-3000rpm (creeps upto 3000rpb) was fine before,
I have taken tank back off and checked the throttle cable was not caught etc, throttle butterfly seems to be returning to the stop on release of throttle etc,
checked choke cable free too,
rechecked all carb and airbox clamps are tight,
accelerates fine and seems a bit quicker now
but rip off up the road and shut the throttle off and back to 2500 rpm and creeps upto 3000rpm etc
any help on ideas would be greatly appreciated as i need her back on the road for monday afternoon,
thanks Rob |

Could the problem have been be a maladjusted idle or mixture screw that may have caused the problems in the 1st place?
At a glance, I would have said to check the cables, rubbers and seals ____________________ Current : MSX 125 Past : CBR 900RR Monkeybike : c50 LAC : ZXR750 H2 : FZR600 : ZX7R P3 : YW100 : TRX850: Trophy 900 T309 : GSXR 600 L0: Monkeybike : XJ6S Whosthedaddy |

looks like i had moved one of the carbs on the rail whilst trying to get the screws out the bowls, and this had left one throttle butterfly not shutting fully, so now straight, i will need them balancing i think, as it is still revving up and down but from 1400-1800rpm now, if i adjust the idle screw out it drops to 800-1100 rpm
but she is running ok now apart from that.
thanks rob |
