TRX off the road, please help!

So I'm getting this strange noise as I'm riding along....

At speed it sounds like I've got a plastic carrier bag stuck on the bike and it's rustling in the wind. When I'm slow I've been checking the bellypan, as it sounds like it's trailing on the ground.

After unsuccessfully trying to find out where the noise was coming from, a worrying sound (indistiguishable and very brief) came from my front wheel when I was wheeling the bike into the garage, which leads me to believe that this is the source of the noise - and I know that mechanically it's fine, as I've had the engine running at standstill and there's nothing wrong.

My suscpision is the front calipers; a few months ago I replaced the original TRX ones with R1 bluespots. Since then there's been a small amount of brake binding (which does seem to go after a while), so I wonder whether this has anything to do with it? I kept the pads that came with them but they've had a few months to bed in properly now (and as I'm utterly skint I'm loathe to buy new pads unless I need them).

The bearings were changed recently and I checked them last weekend (and they're fine). The front tyre was replaced recently but I know for a fact that the spindle was greased well, etc, so I can't see it being either of those.

As a result, I'm on the peasant wagon everyday, and there's only so much an MP3 player can block out. Pleeeese help! Any ideas?

are you sure there isnt a stone caught under your mudguard.
how alligned are the brakes, quite often a spacer is needed to get brakes to allign properly,
mabee a stone under the pad.
im afraid your going to have to pull things apart to try and find the problem

Have you checked the speed drive?

Mine ate it's self a bit.

I think you can take the metal bit that connects the wheel to the speedo drive - if it stops when you do this, that's the problem.

I stuck one from a Thundercat in which was sitting around here and it worked fine.

sounds like its the speedo drive. Take the speedo cable off it and pour in some engine oil.
