hi, having a right nightmare with the bike lately, have tried everything i can think of to fix it but still no joy. was just wondering if there were any nsr owners near chesterfield who would be so kind as to interchange a few simple parts like exhaust, carb and airbox to see if i can find a fault. i could come to you or meet somewhere between(dont mind which). i think this would be the easiest way to find my problem and would happily sort you out with a bit of cash for the trouble, any help greatly appreciated! ____________________ 04 NSR 125(sold) ---- 03 CBR 600rr(sold) ----90 pan euro ST1100 ' ' ----02 CG 125

its running crap from 3000 to 6000 rpm, spits and struggles to get above 7000 and occasionally runs crap in the powerband especialy after 10000 rpm, have posted on it several times already but to no avail, just thought it would save a lot more time and unenjoyable riding to just change a few bits with someone to determine the fault, ____________________ 04 NSR 125(sold) ---- 03 CBR 600rr(sold) ----90 pan euro ST1100 ' ' ----02 CG 125

i has been cleaned and oiled twice in the last few months, the bike has only done 7000 miles so the airbox is in good condition, saying that the previous owner had messed about with it a bit by drilling holes where the spout thing comes inside the box but it was sealed again (i presume by the same person) and it ran fine with it like that before, i have checked it is all still sealed as it should be and even tried taking the screws out the lid and opening it slightly as i rev but it still revs the same(with the boggyness)so i ruled out the airbox as a fault ____________________ 04 NSR 125(sold) ---- 03 CBR 600rr(sold) ----90 pan euro ST1100 ' ' ----02 CG 125

spark plug ok, powervalves ok, does it in all weathers but appears to do it more after a few days of rain or if its been washed, the boggyness is not there below 3000rpm you can hear a change in engine note at 4000 and again at 5 to 5.500 and again at 7000, throttle response is only crap in the midrange. ____________________ 04 NSR 125(sold) ---- 03 CBR 600rr(sold) ----90 pan euro ST1100 ' ' ----02 CG 125

right i may be getting somewhere now. tried alains test with powervalve open and there was no improvement but then tried it with them closed and the flat spots had been noticeably improved but with an obdvious lack of power aswell, there was none of the usual spluttering and revved ok through 3 to 7000 but with throttle pinned it bogged down a bit occasionally, could this mean powervalve, exhaust problem? ____________________ 04 NSR 125(sold) ---- 03 CBR 600rr(sold) ----90 pan euro ST1100 ' ' ----02 CG 125

well that lasted about ooh 5 minutes(told you i would be back) and now its back to crap again, but i suppose on the bright side it does have potential to work if it wants to, now to just figure out what made it work. ____________________ 04 NSR 125(sold) ---- 03 CBR 600rr(sold) ----90 pan euro ST1100 ' ' ----02 CG 125

as alains diagnosed it is the powervalve, well done alains i have narrowed it down to the servo side of it as it only moves a litttle bit in each direction as i can turn it twice as far in either direction by hand, and when i do so it cures the problem. as for why it does this i dont know, it must have worked right before and explains why when it rains or i wash it it breaks. it is a tv78 control unit and had the shunt in the picture attached when i got the bike but removed it straight away, could there be some other kind of restriction or maybe just a loose connection somewhere? |
