Basically as my Engine, swing arm, rear shock etc is looking a complete state after 2 years of oily build up. Yes i know im a prick for letting it get this way.

But whats a good degreaser that will shift all this grime?

Any reccommendations? preferably something i can by in Halfords or local bike shop Smile

For trials i used to use oven degreaser/cleaner.

Came in a tub and it was kinda like a paste ( imagine hair wax if you will) and i simply used a brussel pad and scrubbed away.

Hope that helps.

Lots of rags and 1 500ml spray can of brake cleaner is my recommendation. You'll get the brake cleaner in halfords, maybe a fiver.

That is what I generally use and have had no problems. Using WD40 if I have nothing else (which I usually don't)

Paraffin and a toothbrush, a lot cheaper and works just as well.

Paraffin or gunk, brush it in with a paintbrush, leave to stand, wash off.

If you dont mind getting high or light headed from the fumes, petrol works a treat. Couldnt get hold of any paraffin when I wanted it, so a little unleaded worked a treat Thumbs Up .

As mentioned, paint or rub on using a toothbrush, leave to stand and then wash off Thumbs Up

I found that WD40 also works, but costs loads more and does nt seem to have the oomph of other methods.

Possibly, or it could be in the gardening section.

White spirit works ok too, just a bit more expensive.

personally I use the heine gericke bike cleaner, comes in a 4 litre container iirc.

here's a link to a comparison test. https://www.survivalskills.clara.net/bike_cleaners.htm

Bear in mind the yellow heine gericke cleaner has been superceded by a better degreaser and is orangey pinky in colour....

I swear by Gunk, have used it for years, works well, on everything, but tend to use methalated spirits for inticate work.

Muc-Off, works a treat on pretty much everything, just dont leave it on for too long before rinsing and dont use it in the sun as it leaves marks if you do.

I use stardrops household cleaner on my wheels, cleans up oil, brake dust and general road crud no worries Thumbs Up

It has pretty much the same properties I believe. Used for garden heaters etc, but works a treat for cleaning Smile

No offence mate, but some people have more pressing issues, than using the frigging search facility.

So pipe down Thumbs Up

I use Deb Jizer, 5lt for about £10 or so, then just stick it in an old spray bottle to apply it. Easier to wash off and safer (less flamable) than paraffin/petrol.
