i got this as a hand me down been sat up for years with 16,000 miles on it.
emptied tank etc runs well and is now m o td.
originally it was a get to work cheap option as im 35 but well into it.
i read about replacing piston etc is it hard im quite good and able on cars but bikes .... well.
any ideas where i can get a new full fairing from as mines chipped and looking old now due to bottom of garage bieng used as a battering ram for years.
i read about de ristriction but mine flys and no ones ever done that will it go faster? or is it unrestricted anyway.

I'm not too sure about plastics for the RK but you should be able to buy pattern replacements for any broken bits and give the bike a re-spray. As for de-restriction again not too sure since it's the RK model but if it clocks over 85mph it's likely full power already.

Hi

Replacing a piston on a 2 stroke single is not difficult. Budget on a gentle afternoons work.

If the bike flys (ie, does 90~100mph) then it has probably already been derestricted. New it would have been restricted if it was a UK model.

You may get truly frightened by the prices of bike bodywork if you are used to car stuff. Best option would be to just get it repaired / resprayed.

All the best

Keith

not that im brave enough to do it yet im told it tops a tonbut now ive got to get someone reset the carb as when they got it started they turned the mixture oily as it had sat for so long and by the way how long the two stroke oil last for, must admit come to think of it thats been in there 3 years now.

as for the head im gonna get a manual but at the moment im enjoying the getting used to it and this sunny weather weve got and im lucky enough to be working nights at the moment so as is said ride on

Hi,
I've got a 91 RK and yes - they fly, I've had a ton out of mine. I idn't have a fairing on my bike when I bought it...and as everyone knows now (and I'm sure is sick of hearing) bought a fibreglass fairing and had it sprayed. Overall the total cost of this was about £300 (including all the running around ect) so not too bad really. Im afraid I cannot remeber where I got the fairing from...replica fairings or something like that.

I got a quote for the proper original plastic panels and that was in the silly region of ...wait for it...£850!!! I knida laughed (I paid £400 for the bike!).

You can keep a look out around a breakers but it isn;t very often they get the panels in for this bike but you never know!
Good luck - enjoy it!

Thats where I had mine from, but I had it straight from the suppliers - no middle man so to speak, but its the paint job that costs the money. Depends how many colours you have and how rare they are.
