since early this morning, i had tried starting my bike up 3 different times and there seems to be a very load screeching from the starter motor. it's like a cat is in there or something.

anyone know why this could be, it has only just started happening today.

by the way it's a cagive planet 125 2001 model.

cheers

My Mito did the same thing when i had it... it's the starter cog jammed..

take the side casing off, then undo the little housing that holds the cog and shaft in place (2 x 5mm allen key bolts), then clean and grease it up, put back together, jobs a goodun. Thumbs Up

And if that isn't the problem then it's your PowerValve Servo (attached to coolant tank)... which would mean powervalve cables etc all want re-syncing.

I just tap the starter with a hammer, if it starts doing it often then yes strip it down, but I wouldn't bother at the moment. Wink

what kind of engagement-system does the starter use? Is it recoil, pre-engaged or sprag-clutch?
