Basically the bar-stewards that are my college IT staff have filtered BCF. Thumbs Down
But they simply block the URL and not the IP, and having managed to get around it before by simply typing in an IP , i assume it will work for BCF. Only...i dont know how to find BCF's IP addy.
Anyone help?

it will only work if BCF has a dedicated IP address... as it is, I suspect it's running off a virtual server, so there's multiple sites on the one IP address, and the server priovides the content based on the hostname...

better to find an open proxy and use that for your web browsing.

doubt if it would work for bcf. BCF appears to be a virtualhost, which means that the server will only serve up the right site if you ask for the hostname rather than just the IP address. Asking for the IP address will just serve up the default documentroot which probably isn't going to be the one you want.

If you're really keen to try and you have root/administrator privileges to the client machine, then you can try adding an entry to your hosts file to force a dns match of 67.15.24.40 to www.bikechatforums.com - that should bypass the dns lookup and might be enough to view it from there.

You could also try going through some web-based proxies, like we used to do at college Very Happy

www.megaproxy.com (and when they blocked this one, we used...)
www.amegaproxy.com
www.afreeproxy.com

That's just a few. Try doing a google search for "free web based proxy" and you'll get some more

There was one called something like www.workrelated.org which not only allowed anonymous browsing, but also made all the webpages look like a Microsoft Word document Very Happy Can't remember the corrent URl though, but someone on here should

You could also try Torpark...

https://www.torrify.com/download.html

It doesn't need an install (can be run off a CD)

Works just great.

Theres a good chance all the links given will not work, with regards to a solution, try getting friendly with the IT admins and allow them to update your profile on the n/w for this particular site.

nah, just root their servers and do your own thing. That's probably how they ended up with the job in the first place

https://babelfish.altavista.com

Tell it to translate from whatever language to English. As the pages are already in English it'll be unchanged. Use it to get round whatever you want at college, just don't use it for doing coursework as it's shit as a translator. Razz
