Hey all,

Got myself a budget from the parents this very moment of £1500 for everything! Right now to go about telling you what im thinking of getting. Smile

As ill be restricted to a 125 and will mainly be commuting short distances ive decided to buy textiles not leathers.

They will be from www.click2buy.co.uk £100 for 2 piece 'cordura' suit.

i will most probably buy my gloves (Alpinestars SMX-2 Air Carbon) , boots (well im still struggling on those was thinking HG stunts or custom II) and possibly helmet (thinking RST cobravent) from hein gericke.

If anyone has an experience with any of these products then that would be extra helpful Karma Thumbs Up

In an ass about face way I'd find a bike 1st, if you go and buy all the gear under the sun, you are not going to have much for the bike. £1500 is not a lot, if you have to put tax and insurance into the mix, its practically gone already.

You can always upgrade the kit as you see fit. You may buy a brand or style and months down the line hate them, or not practical for your needs.

Congrats and GL, swaying the thread somewhat I hear alot of "you get what you pay for" but www.Click2buy.co.uk seems decent enough at a reasonable price, anyone used them before?

To clarify i was just getting the equipment costs out of the way as my parents, as most would, are more worried about safety!

Im looking at (for about a grand) NSR, Cagiva Mito, Aprilia RS, Yammie TZR.

Also interested in reports on www.click2buy.co.uk. Saw a full page advert for them in SuperBike mag so they cant be too bad! I HOPE!

Mr. Green

What I spent on my first bike:

Caberg Lid - £100
Decent Gloves - £40
Kymco Zing 125 - £850
Insurance - £250

And that bike was MINT, you've got plenty of money to play about with. Thumbs Up Although, in hindsight, it was blimmin daft for me not to have bought a proper jacket, trousers or boots! Laughing

Yeah although i hate the thought of having an RS purely because ill be looked upon as a Mr Chavington it seems cheapest and overall the best which shouldnt make much sense! Rolling Eyes

id like a bit more money tho say 1700 that would be nice so i could go for the 1200 range in a bike. that would get me a nice mito =]

Get an RS125 they are the mutts nutts, expensive to run yes, but the the fun factor is worth it. BUT you must get the full power version, mine was restricted at 1st and if your gonna keep it like that just get a 4t 125.

How is an RS cheaper than a CG or are you comparing it to the other bikes?

RS'es are not for CHAVS its just the only bike they could afford without a full licence. Try getting your knee down on one, my GSXR was easier.

Well ignore anything said about them just go by one, live on the red line, Thrash the pants of it and when you get a bigger bike it will be like a walk in the park. Easier to ride unless your thinking of something like a zx10r, and cheeper to run, but probably less fun then the RS Wink

RS125 = 2 words. OH DEAR!

Quote:

It does, they are sooo unreliable, and expensive to fix when they break(and that is every other week) that if you buy a NSR or MITO etc, you might pay a little more, but you make up for that in fun and less repair costs, not to mention garage if you like to keep your hands clean. Plus other bikes will go faster, a good 125 is the Yam TZR125. I have an NS125R, so that is an un-biased opinion. Wink

Sorry to keep going on but the RS parts are cheeper then the honda and the cagiva. And its the fastest with the cagiva. Me and my riding buddy used to have a RS and an NSR the RS was a fair bit faster. But if you want to save your money get an NSR, will still need a top end re-build will just keep going for longer. It will just be a little slower and not have usd's and one of the best frames eva, but still a top bike.

My rs showed 110, probably 100. But was very quick for an rs because i did not run it in after my top end re-build, which means more power shorter live, beat a golf R32 of the lights Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

most 125s will beat cars off the lights as they cant get the power down as fast as you can.

edit: and £60 for a helmet, was on offer £20 quid off, its a crappy nitro racing thing... guy said he wouldnt keep it 2 years, but Im a poor student and cant afford any better..

I've bet a ferrari modena type thing 'off the lights', doesn't mean the driver isn't pissing himself laughing at you Rolling Eyes whilst setting off revving the engine to make you think he's trying.

Getting myself on the road with my first 125 wasnt too bad..

DT125RE (like firefox's) £950 + parts £300 = £1250
Trailie helmet and goggles (One Ind and Pro grip)= £110
MX boots (Shift) = £120
Gloves = £20 (J&S shite.. my all leather buffalo's were better till they wore out Sad )
Buffalo textile jacket with armour = £25 (Ebay Thumbs Up)
Insurance (TP Shocked Thumbs Down) £120

not far off £1500 Mr. Green

And on the racing cars of the lights thing... I dont bother.. They only get the last laugh when they blast past you at 60 and your running outta puff Embarassed
