This week i have mostly been in an office (well not all the time luckily)
Which has meant the only commuting I've ever done since uni really Confused but worse since i have to go back @4:30/5ish.. its quite bizarre, the 10minute journey is transformed to 20/30mins, and 1hour at 5! I'd forgot just how bloody insane it all is!

Gourd what a bloody pain, but I've done more filtering this week than i ever have, if this became a regular shindig I'd be having another cg125 actually..

All else I'll say is I'm glad of fitting the fog horns, and i'm glad i'll not be doing it again after Friday..

Love commuting on the bike. Wakes me up in the morning, and gives me the chance to unwind at night.

I kind of take the convenience factor for granted though. The petrol cost works out significantly less than getting a buspass, but parking is free unlike cars.

I can't say I'm a very big fan of commuting - especially along roads that are rammed full of bendy busses, have insane traffic light timings and appear to be made almost entirely out of pot holes and manhole covers.
Having said that, it's still light years better than public transport. Biking it on a 125 works out about thirty pounds a week cheaper, is fifteen minutes quicker and results in fewer blood injuries than the tube.

My journey in to work is an arse, but even when it's pissing down, school mums are trying to kill me, every light is red and there's a bendy bus straddling every junction (ie most days) it's still ten times better than sitting on the tube.

This week it's half-term so my 35 minute journey has become a 15 minute journey. Dreading Monday when all the school mums will be back in their 4x4s again.

I love commuting on me bike, nothing feels better than filtering through all the bored car drivers stuck in jams!
Funnily enough my missus sets off 30mins before me in the car and I always overtake her within 3 miles from my house lol.

Journey takes 30mins, if I was on a bus it'd take nearly 2 hours... Twisted Evil

My working day highlights:

ride in (whee!)
lunch time (food!)
ride home (whee!)

Thats it really. I need a new job I think, but these 3 parts of the day are what makes it for me Smile

My commute is nice and fast, as I live in a rural area with good roads. I don't need to do much filtering, and when I do, the roads are straight.

I used to enjoy my commute.

But now I take the train. Fuel and running costs of the bike add up to around the same as my month return on the train.

Add to that the fact that my journey is cursed with road works and immigrants. I prefer to have a nap on the train.

Commuting is fun (but got less so recently) , but then I tend to chase girlies on their 1000CC sports bikes.

I like to commute on the bike whenever I can.
It takes 15 minutes off the journey, and is a lot more fun.
Only problem is finding somewhere to store all of the wet gear if it rains. It does not go down too well dumping it all in the office next to the desk ! Smile

Its the employers responsibility to provide storage for wet gear. I have a cupboard to dump mine in Smile

ride to work every day, and love it, beats a fat sweaty guy's armpit in the face on a packed, stuffy, delayed tube anyday.

2 hours on a train, plus change times, plus delays versus 1 hour on the bandit........no contest, bike wins every time. If it rain's - textiles, if it's windy, leathers and thermals, if its snowing..........stay the hell at home.......

i always get to uni with a smile on my face, and start grinning about half an hour before it's time to leave because i know whats comming!

I had to tube it for 4 months while my bike was still in bristol, when I first moved to london.
Love using the bike everyday and have done since this time last year, I feel that riding around london has really improved my riding (Ive got spider sense now) I can really see the differance between london and Bristol. I'd never use the underground for work again, its slow and expensive, I'd rather ride in the snow, puts a massive grin on my face everyday Razz Razz Razz

On my trusty 125, nipping through traffic is the best feeling ever, and a lot of people actually move over to let me filter through, In turn giving them a quick nod or wave, when possible so:

the bus = bad as the tube.
the car = bad as er, walking cos ya stuck in traffic.(in a car, not walking)
the bike = freeedooom!!!whee.. Exclamation Laughing Laughing

Doing it again tomorrow, its funny but i sort of like it, its makes getting up less bad and something to look forward too at the end of the day (it was great when i had my shitty weekend job, i'd often turn up late takeing the scenic route Laughing ) its quite nifty despite being right in the middle of the city I've been parking right next to the building, there's free parking for the regular workers there but its 10minutes walk away Laughing
Took the panniers off though, bit unwieldy in the ol traffic..

Interesting though, dont think i'd fancy it in lannndahn but it makes allot of sense here (sure it does there too, but slightly less nutters here)

I much prefer riding the bike to work. The weather needs to be real shitty or I have large items to take with me before I take the car. Like someone else said, it's a great 'wake-me-up' and a lovely de-stress on the way home.

My only problem is that, everyday some asshole(s) tries to freakin' kill me.

Regards
