Can anyone shed any light on how to go about derestricting a mate of mine's Honda CBF600S. Its a 2005 carb'd model, and it is supposedly the same engine as used in the CB600F Hornet.

It was restricted from new by the Honda dealer using a proper restriction kit and my mate was given a bag containing some original spec parts that he understands are to replaced when the restrictor parts are removed.

Does this make sense to anyone? I always thought that the restrictor kits were basically big washers that cut down the airflow into the carbs. How do you go about doing this and does the bike need any other alterations once the restrictors have been removed - eg the carbs adjusting etc???

And before anyone mentions it, his 2yr restriction period is up next month and this information is for use after then - not before! We are just trying to work out whether it will be an easy job to do or whether it would be best left to the Honda dealer.

Could be carb slides instead of washers. I'm led to believe it will be the carb slides if you have been given parts back. Confused

Yeah it will be carb slides probably, like the official Suzuki Kit, click the link in my avatar as to how to remove them, ignore all the Bandit stuff. Thumbs Up

Its not my bike, its a mates bike and I haven't seen the parts but from what he has described and what has been mentioned here it must be these carb slides.

Thanks for the useful link Jon B Thumbs Up it sounds a fairly straightforward job anyway. Do the carbs needs adjusting afterwards or is it basically swap the slides, bolt it back together and off you go?

Just swap the slides. All the slides do is adjust the airflow through the carbs anyway. Thumbs Up
