Windows Messenger F**king sh*te

Got a bit of an issue.

I used my dads Laptop to sign into Windows messenger (wanabe MSN) the other day, and Every time he switches his laptop on it signs into messenger as me.

The box for "Sign me in automatically" is unticked. Ive also been into Options and Unticked all the boxes for "Sign in at windows start up" and "remember passwords" etc.
So theres no reason at all why it should be signing anyone in at start up.


So why is it doing it?



Can I uninstall this programme as I cant find it in add/remove programmes.

Or can I go into the start up sequence or somthing and completely remove it from windows start up procedure or whatever?


Its not a problem but me Dad gets a bit wound up every time he switches on his Lappy and has all my mates trying to talk to him!

find it in prog files or windows on c drive and delete it

Start, control panel, administrative tools, services, windows web messenger, right click, properties, start-up type, disabled.

Either that or I'm completely wrong. Google has all the answers mate.

It took some trying but managed to get rid of the naff programme.


Went into admin tools but It was already disabled. So Not sure whats happening there.


After going into processes and ending all Msgr related process', It allowed me to delete the core file.

If you had searched Google, you'd have found a program that absolutely obliterates Windows Messenger.

If it's XP, you probably inadvertently associated your .net passport with his user account as well. Even though you've gotten rid of the program, it's probably still associated. You can go into control panel | user accounts | <his account> | Change my .NET Passport, and remove your account information from his user account.

Doesn't messenger have a "forget me" button? Not at home and MSN is blocked here so can't check.

if there are any porgrams that load of when the pc turns and which you dont like it.

Start> run> type> msconfig>

go to the startup TAB and untick any programs you dont want, and so these will never go on by itself
