Posted: 19:37 - 26 Feb 2007 Post subject: GS500e slingshot project STOLEN!!!!!!!!!! |
|
|
I havent started yet and appoligies if this is in the wrong place but it will be a project soon and I will be needing advice.
Basically I have been offered a 1991 gs500e slingshot for 150 quid.
It needs a new tank, carb cover, battery, front brake lever and grabrail.
I will make it my first project as it is currently in a not too cosmetically good condition so I will strip it down to the frame, repaint it, clean it all up, get the necessary parts fitted and restrict it to 33bhp for the summer. as soon as I pass my test I can go for a ride on what will hopefully go for a ride on a almost mint condition, gs500e in black metalflake paintwork.
So if anyone knows were i can get The above parts on the cheap then please tell me. I will get pictures as soon as she is mine and in my back garden.
Cheers
John

Spares direct.
There should be a square of plastic that joins them up above the brakelight, and the plastics should be screwed into the bar that you see when you take the seat off.
The grab rail does not stablise the plastics.

First thing I'd do (Only jst got round to doing it)
Buy yerself a big bollocking tin of degreaser and whack it on the bottom part of the shock past the dog bones where the slots are.
Read the numbers below the slot facing you. If it isn't '7' take the C-Spanner out of the toolkit (Under the seat behind rear brake light) and the breaker bar, hook it onto the slots on the shock (With the open part of the hook facing the front of the bike, you are standing on the left hand side of it, more accurately, lying ) and then crank it clockwise until the notch facing you says '7'
Good improvement in ride quality.
