Cool, I'm crap at the whole greasing lark, surely I'd only need to regrease if I unbolted the linkage?

Thats the whole point about degreaser... Wink

You'll probably need to unbolt the linkage to regrease it. Degreaser gets rid of grease, even on things that are bolted together! Smile

You mean the black plastic cap over each one that houses the diaphragms?

If they're missing be careful, there's a TINY O Ring underneath that cover that you should see seated around the rim.

The part you need is "13502-01D00"

Robinsons Foundry do them for £16 each.

Go to here and put the part number in the right hand text box.

No toolkit in the back Sad I would have done some work on her today but I havent had the time and its been raining and id rather not risk it with an open carb cover.

Off to look for the cable now.

got her up on the centrestand so I can sort out the back end.

Chain has been removed for cleaning

gear lever is stiff on the shaft but I need it off to acess the front sprocket when I put the chain back on.

Rear sprocket looks in good condition so im cleaning it up.

Back brake is dragging, The wheel is hard to turn and there is a scratching noise coming from the rear calipers. Any ideas?

Cheers

Whip the caliper off, whip the pads out, clean up the pistons and push them back into the caliper. (May only be 1 piston).

Smear a bit of copperslip on the back of the pads, replace and voila.

Brakes drag after a while, it's not actually a problem if the wheel spins freely. In your case it doesn't. So do what I said above.

Cheers, ill do that tomorrow.

Would it be ok to use opened but unused DOT 4 brake fluid to clean them?

Also is copperslip needed?

Cheers

what i did today:

Clean glue of sidepanel a bit, It wont come off with mr sheen, turps, white spirit, warm water or a hairdrier so im resorting to very fine wet and dry on the logic that its going to be resprayed anyway.

fixed the horn, quite loud aswell Smile some Fiamm black and red thing the size of my fist, that will be useful when in town I think.

Cleaned rear sprocket and swingarm

Tomorrow:
Refit suzuki altornator cover
Tighten all loose bolts (ive noticed a few)
try and get to front sprocket.
hunt for a bandit 400 rear hugger to mod on
hunt for something I can turn into a front fenda extenda
clean downpipes a bit more

Cheers

So yesterday i did a bit of work on her, bodged the carb cover to repair it (superglue a bit of plastic over the hole and covered the top in aquarium sealant)

Charged the battery

oiled the linkages on the carbs (choke and throttle)

poured a bit of petrol down the pipe

pressed start and head her run for the 3rd time ever, sounds amazing and makes the floor vibrate just standing next to it.

Changed the brake fluid on both resevoirs, doesnt drag as much and brakes are even more effective.

later today im going to sort out the mess of hoses, refit the airbox and battery (been tickle charging overnight) and try and fix the bar end.

Also fit the tacho cable and brake lever if I can. along with the chain.

Cheers
John
