I've a problem with my PC.

Last week for some reason my CPU got fried. I did have it out to try in another system so whether I done something wrong when it was put back in again I don't know.
Anyway, I got a working second hand CPU today and put it in. It booted up ok but after 3 or 4 minutes it freezes and then the monitor turns off but the pc is still running. It will start again ok after a few minutes.
The temperature only goes to 40 degrees so I don't think it's that. On one of the occasions I went into the bios and left it there. Temp went to 40 again but after the 4ish minutes the writing changed, I don't think it was a different language just the characters changed.
I've tried starting a virus scan but there's not enough time to complete it.

Any ideas ?
