hi all.

Just been listening to this on the radio.
Apparently there is a dodgy batch of fuel being sold from various supermarket forecourts.

All over Radio 5 atm.

It kills the engine in a fair few peoples cars by taking out the O2 sensor.

Just thought I would mention it in case anyone comes across engine problems soon after filling up with supermarket fuel. Tesco seems to be the place named.

Apparently this is affecting the South East.

Likewise, cheers for that... it's about the only good thing to happen since coming to the Midlands

"So, glad you came here?" "Yeah, over the SE, no dodgy fuel here!" - that's about as thrilling as it gets Very Happy

Yep, just happened to my mate, cant start his car, he took it to a renault garage, and said the sensors f**ked.

Gonna cost him £300 to get fixed, and he just filled up at Tesco.

So be aware, this was in Sunny Margate!!!

Not sure, he was told its stopping most of the fuel, as if its blocked or something, and needs a new sensor!!

Well... I filled up my car at Tescos in Dunmow (Essex) this morning... and it is still running ok... granted it was only running on 3 cylinders earlier, but thats normal! (it does it when the engines cold sometimes!).

But my car won't have an oxygen sensor I wouldn't have thought... it dosn't even have a catalyitic converter (1991 VW Scirocco 1.8)

Yes this is definitely a case where older is better. Carbs for the win.

My FJR would just go kaput if I was unlucky enough to fill up with this crap.

Hmmm... Two threads on the same subject.

Apparently the FI engine mangement systems are detecting what may be Ethanol in the petrol emissions, and shutting down the engines. No-one's really sure yet.

So Carb's should be fine. Thumbs Up
