Im after a bike thats a little different to the norm. My gsxr, fazer, vfr are all sports bikes and seem fairly similar in character.
Can anyone recomend me a bike thats slightly different?
Ive thought of a racing 2 stroke but dont know if that will be much different and ive also looked at supermotos but they seem expensive.

What do you reckon? Ive got around £1500.

What sort of riding? Do you want power, handling, long distance ability, economy? Town, city or countryside riding mainly?

You may find a supermoto for the money, otherwise how about a large capacity naked bike? Personally I like Ducati Monsters, though they're not everyone's cup of tea!

yeah i have just been looking at them, although when i think ducati i think "running costs!", thats partly the reason i didnt sell the gsxr and get a 996.
I could be wrong, but whatever i get i dont want my fun bike to be a money pit.

Or a big thumper XL/XR600/650, XT600 or KLR600...Then a spare set of wheels with road tyres on and you have something for off road and a supermoto for on road fun... Wink

Either that or some mad 2 stroke hand grenade

....Or maybe a Firestorm Confused

Don't confuse them with the superbikes, the air cooled bikes cost very little to run and are very reliable.

If you want weird and wonderful, supermonos and small smokers definitely fit the bill. Bimota made a supermono (SB6 i think) and there's the Yamaha SZR660. For a little smoker, do not overlook RD350s. They're in a low state of tune, and are easily come by on ebay. Resale value will be good too! Mind you, if you buy any supermono, supermoto or stroker like the RD you'll be bound to make your money back.

Lovely bikes, big singles in a small sports package. A small 250 or 350 2-stroke would be just as much fun:

All lovely looking bikes (except the RD and SZR maybe...) and all a little out of the ordinary!
