Oh god I mean, bleh, oh man I don't even think this is in the right section but fuck, I mean, seriously omg. I just got back from a small race around the local track in a sidecar and argh I'm still shaking from the adrenaline,

My god I can't believe I'll be doing this properly soon, well I'm building a sidecar atm in case you didn't know, chances are you didn't, but today was a track day held by the Mothers bike gang, it was called 'mother's day' hehehe, so yeah and I met this guy called Robert who took me out at the end of the day and

Well I don't like to blow my own trumpet but I did alright you know by the second lap I was hanging well out, it appears I appear to be not too bad at this swinging business! the guy was impressed as were some other guys haha, but previously in the day he had taken his daughter out and went a little faster and then slowed then suddenly she flew off and was like

Omg, lying on the floor and things, but she was ok in the end, think she broke a piece of her hand and got winded from the fall cos she went rolling off the side of the track, must have rolled at least 3 times. so later on i borrowed her leathers and haha, everyone thought i was the girl who fell off and they were coming up to me and asking if i was alright

And i was like haha no that wasn't me silly, she's ok though. so yeah and so i got about 3 or 4 laps in and toward the end he was confident enough to give it some beans (with me the noob on it. he is a bloody fast rider without noobs on his thing!) as he told me later on he opened her up a bit, with a cheeky grin on his face so that's an even bigger compliment to me!

I mean god, we must have been flying because I definately was not sitting on that tray thing, I was literally hanging on for life, my knees were slowly being pushed back towards the end of the tray, and it felt like 3 fat men were trying their best to push me off the end. Corners were a relief! I got to have a lie down!

I just can't believe I'm gonna be doing this as a proper thing soon! You have to be so fit it's unreal, I was knackered by the end, all that swinging, hanging on for dear life as it was a classic so no real fairing for the swinger other than ducking down. I think I'm gonna insert some random paragraphs in this so people actually read it, I want everyone to know!

My dad got some pre-thingy pictures and I look like a bell end because the leathers were a bit big for me which is why the racing hump is half way down my back but he didn't get any during the race which I'm a little gutted about because he was helping this other sidecar get going but the rider was gay and couldn't keep the revs up so by the time they all gave up and dad got the chance to get some pics, we were just pulling back into the pits.

O well, it's not like that was my last ever chance at doing that again! Oh man I'm shaking like a leaf, keep saying naughty words randomly. I am bloody awesome at swinging hahaha, yeah I'm a natural hehe!
Mr. Green

Oh yeah and the bike was a Norton Commando 850 as it was a classic, and I am currently building a classic except ours will have a Triumph engine.

I'm really sorry this thing is in such a state, not really my usual self at all but I mean just pfft... that was incredible. Anyway, if you got this far, thanks for reading and here are some picatures.

OK well thanks very much! Track day tomorrow, wooo!! Very Happy Mr. Green

EDIT: Because I didn't get any pictures of me hanging off, I thought I'd try and do as accurate a representation as possible, so yeah, this is what I managed to do! Mr. Green :

On the track of course, don't be silly, I didn't do it there.

Mad, absolutely mad. At least you enjoyed it.

Is Manfield as good as they say? You can hire the entire track for about $1600 I think.

I've been fortunate enough to have gone round it in a race car, sidecar and on a bike.

It's bloody rough, it really does need resurfacing or something, the hairpin is in terrible condition and makes for an ensured brown pant moment every time you attempt a line through it.

There are square, raised patches of new tarmac dotted all over the place, most around tight bends which is fun.

It's more of a flowing track than anything else, very easy to get into a rhythm because there's only one tight bend, the S's make you weep they're that good and there are two straights that aren't long enough to get your bike red lining in top.

It's an easy track. Thumbs Up but really needs a make over.

I'm looking forward to going to Taupo, as Aaron Slight's doing mentoring there for the Honda Rider's Club but I don't think you need to have a Honda... don't think they're that anal. I've heard much better things about Taupo than Manfeild but it's still worth going.

Check out his sig. Wink

Whilst their bikes are tiny, I uphold that mini- sidecar racers are the maddest of the lot. No idea what top speeds they can reach but I should imagine they can shift, with grown adults perched on top of them, leaning all o'er the place.

Would still give it a go though! Mr. Green

Itchy - one way to get a go that I know of - come to one of our rounds, have a go on the MinimotoSidecars... then I can introduce you to Tamzine Hanks... she races MinimotoSidecars and is the l'il sister of TeamHanks that race fullsize sidecars. She can generally advise you from there...

That particular one uses a CBR125 engine... and still manages it's topspeed of 80mph 2-up Wink (These CBR125 engines are rather tuneable if ya know what you're doing!). Chassis & bodywork are all custom handmade to suit whatever engine we intend to use... 6" rims and Kart tyres... 2pot disc brakes front n' rear.

Thumbs Up

Cheers Itchy, yeah it has improved dramatically and I'm glad I've grown out of my extreme feminist stage. Embarassed

I'm glad my attitude's changed enough that it's visible because I hate being a miserable bugger!

Really appreciate that you pointed it out, so thanks a lot, certainly put a grin on my face anyway!

And good luck becoming a sidecar monkey, really hope you get the opportunity as it's just incredible. (to state the obvious!) Thumbs Up

Very Happy Karma

Found the place y'all need - if you're in the UK and fancy becoming a FullSize Sidecar Passenger, you need to head to https://www.steveenglish.com/phpBB2/index.php and signup... then once registration has processed, head here: https://www.steveenglish.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=9 and https://www.steveenglish.com/classifiedads/index.php?

Sidenet has just become a spam magnet, so everyone's shifted over to one of the Sidecar guys' personal sites...
